“Kendall,” I breathed.

His one hand drifted lower and around my hips. His fingers moved down to tease over the hem of my pants.

He’s going to jerk me off, I thought with a thrill. I tensed the muscles in my thighs and hips to bring my groin off the flat table in silent askance.

That was when the villa door flew open.

I jumped, and Kendall flinched. We both turned.

Lauren charged through the room, a key card in hand, and a look of triumph on her face. Her expression slipped into confusion as she laid eyes on Kendall.

Kendall hadn’t yet reached around to grab my cock. His hands were still in their proper place on my back, but if Lauren had waited a few more minutes, she would have gotten an eye full.

I’d had enough.

“Lauren,” I said, sitting up. “What exactly do you think you are doing?”

“I… I…” she stammered and then collected herself, raising her chin. “I wanted to talk to you.”

No, she didn’t. It was clear that she had expected to catch me in some kind of compromising position. She almost had.

“How did you get a key to my room?” I asked

“The front desk.” There was no apology in her tone. “When I simply explained that I was your wife and had lost my own, they were more than willing to issue me a replacement.”

Of course. Her driver’s license would show the same last name as mine. Knowing Lauren, this was also a two-pronged threat. She could play the ‘wife card’ and get whatever information she wanted.

I turned to Kendall who had backed up a step or two, his green eyes wide in surprise and dismay.

“Kendall, please notify the front desk that I want my locks reprogrammed and no other key cards are to be issued, especially to my ex-wife.”

“Of course, Mr. Helman,” Kendall said demurely, playing the part of the assistant and not the lover. It hurt a little to hear him so formal and distant, but I quickly pushed it away. Of course, it was necessary.

I didn’t bother to ask for the key card from Lauren. It would be useless in a few moments after Kendall put the order in.

However, Lauren was staring at Kendall in a very odd way. Had she figured something out? Did she guess that there had been intimacy between us? For all her faults, she was a very intelligent woman.

I tried to pull her attention back to me. “This is completely unacceptable. Do you seriously think I’m more likely to give you what you want?”

Her dark eyes snapped back to me. Good. “I told you, we could have taken care of this back home, but you were the one who ran away to the other side of the world.”

I really should have listened to the advice of my lawyer and started on that restraining order. I let out a long breath and pinched the bridge of my nose. “Lauren, we will talk about your request for more money, and the sex tape, later.”

“But—!”

“No,” I snapped. “For God’s sake Lauren, get out of here. I don’t want to see you right now. Don’t make me call security.”

She pouted, but then to my surprise, she turned to Kendall. “What’s your name?”

Kendall flinched in surprise. “Kendall Johnson.”

Johnson. Easy enough last name to commit to memory, and I kicked myself on the inside for never bothering to ask.

Lauren, however, seemed to find Kendall very interesting. To the point where the self-possessed man fidgeted under her dark gaze. Lauren made a little sound deep in her throat, the type of noise she usually made when she was putting two things together. “I’m glad to meet you, Kendall Johnson.”

Kendall started to look flat-out uneasy.

“Lauren. Out!” I kept it to small, tiny words, since nothing had gotten through so far.
