Also, knowing that Lauren was under a gag order and couldn’t speak of anything to do with the divorce—including my new relationship with Kendall—had done wonders for his stress.
Honestly, all the fees I had paid Bob had been more than worth it.
“I have a position as a masseuse at Dior Luxury.”
My mother looked suitably impressed. “I know that spa. Is that the one with a three-month wait to be seen? It is supposed to be ultra-exclusive.”
“It sure is, and the waitlist has grown if you can believe it. I’m supposed to start Monday, and will have a client base ready and waiting,” he said proudly.
I pressed a kiss to his temple. “I’m very proud of him.”
Which was an understatement. I was head over heels for the man.
“And how is Alice doing?” she asked delicately.
Kendall’s smile was a little less carefree, but still genuine. “Even better than I expected. She’s moved out of the city—lives in Boston now. It turns out she’s dating again. She’s… doing good. Very good.”
“I am so glad to hear that. Please, the next time you speak with her, send her my regards.”
“I’ll do that,” he promised.
My mother expressed her congratulations again, to both of us this time. We chatted for another few minutes before her eye was caught by a mutual friend and she moved on.
Kendall and I were finally alone.
I turned to him; lips curved up in amusement. “You didn’t tell her that we’d moved in together? She didn’t say anything, and I know she would have.”
Kendall shrugged and smiled, taking a sip of his champagne. “I thought it was best to spread out the good news a little. Besides, this is your day to shine.”
I snorted a laugh. “A divorce party isn’t necessarily ‘my day to shine’.”
“It’s a day for new beginnings,” Kendall said taking my hand in his. “And I’m so happy to share it with you.”
I leaned down and kissed him to the hoots and laughter of my friends around me.
It was a new beginning, indeed.
