“What’s that?”
“You’ll always be honest and truthful with me if I push too hard for something you’re not ready for and you will come to me if we have a problem.”
She looked at him knowing that the hurt caused by his ex-wife was the impetus behind his request. “Zeus, I promise that I will always be honest with you. Even if it’s hard for me or embarrassing, okay?”
“Sweetheart, there’s never going to be anything to be embarrassed about.”
“Hmm, okay. If you say so.”
“I say so,” he responded before kissing her again, effectively short-circuiting her thoughts.

Waking up the next morning once again in his arms, she smiled.I could definitely get used to this. “Zeus? Do you need to go to work today?”
His sleep-roughened voice nuzzled her as he pulled her close. “No, mi siempre hermosa. Remember? We are playing hooky today.”
Smiling, she cuddled closer before saying, “What are we going to do?”
“We’re going on a date so get yourself up and get ready, okay? I will take care of Duke and the cats and run by my house and get ready.”
Damn I love it when he uses that tone. Outwardly, she said, “Okay. Anything special I need to wear?”
“Comfortable clothes.”
“Okay.”
He leaned down and kissed her before getting out of bed and calling to Duke and the cats. Nabisco, seeing her cuddle buddy get up, stretched before she followed the others out into the kitchen. Shaking her head, Marleigh got out of bed and made it quickly before she grabbed a pair of capris and a tank top.At least the pain is easing and it’s not as hard of a flowshe thought as she packed her “supplies” in her purse.
Showered and dressed, she went into the kitchen to see Paulie and Gray drinking coffee. “Zeus said not to eat,” Paulie told her when she went to grab some fruit.
“Ah, I see,” she replied. “Okay, are you guys heading out or what?” she asked.
“Yeah, we’re headed home after we meet with the real estate agent but we’ll be back this weekend when the parents show up,” he told her.
“Shit, where is everyone going to sleep?” she asked. “I’ve only got one guest room!”
“Mi siempre hermosa, they can stay at my house or at Mamá’s,” Zeus said, having come in on her statement. “Are you ready?”
“Yeah,” she replied. Going over to Paulie she gave him a hug and a kiss and then repeated the process with Gray. “I’ll see y’all next weekend I guess. Either of you want me to put you down for a massage? I can extend the day if needed.”
“Put us all in, chica, you know we’ll take care of you,” Paulie said.
Chapter Thirteen
Helping her into his truck, she smiled when she saw he already had the converter box and her heating pad. “I didn’t know if you’d need it or not today, but figured we would be prepared,” he told her.
“Thank you, Zeus. That was thoughtful. It’s easing somewhat but still there, y’know?” She refused to be embarrassed because the man had sisters after all and had undoubtedly lived through many monthly cycles. “So, you going to tell me where we’re going?”
“Relax, Marleigh. Breakfast first, okay? Then we’ll go from there.”
Realizing she wasn’t going to get anything else from him, she sat back after finding some music and putting it on low and watched him as he drove them to their first destination.
As the miles passed, they talked about the upcoming Fourth of July party that his mother was throwing. “It gets a bit loud and crazy,” he told her, “But it’s a lot of fun. We pretty much stay at the pool the whole weekend, eating and drinking and having a good time.”
“Sounds like a lot of fun. Do you think she would mind if Paulie and Gray came?”
“Not at all. The more the merrier.”
