“What have you been up?” he questions, his lips mere inches from my own. I lean up on my tiptoes to close the space and take his lips with mine once again.
“It's a celebration,” I tell him once we pull away. Taking his hand in mine I lead him up the hill to where the balloons are tied to a basket resting upon a blanket.
“And what are we celebrating, might I ask?”
I hand him the envelope I have tucked in my purse, practically bouncing up and down as he opens it and reads the letter inside.
His eyes scan the written words and a huge smile spreads across his face.
“You got into Mountain Ridge! I'm so proud of you. I knew you could do it,” he says as he pulls me in for a hug, kissing the top of my head.
“I got the letter two days ago. I’ve been dying to tell you, but I wanted it to be special.”
“This is such great news, but why are we here?” He looks around us. It really is gorgeous here. In the distance, the mountains peek out just beyond the dense trees giving us the most picturesque backdrop.
“Well… I wanted to show you where we’re going to be living. This was Papa’s property.”
Greyson does a full slow spin to take in the vast hills and wooded areas around us. “All of this?” he asks.
“Yeah, I believe it’s around thirty acres… do you like it?”
“Like it? I fucking love it! This is amazing babe.” He pauses for a second as if recalling something. “So, the road we came in on…?”
“That’s our road. I don’t think the street sign was there, but in the paperwork it's called Leah Drive.”
“Leah, as in your mom?”
I nod, smiling at him. “It's all ours, I want us to build the house of our dreams… and grow old together in the home we create here.”
He grabs my hips and pulls me in close. We stand back to front with his head resting in the crook of my neck, looking out at the property before us.
“I can't think of anything I’d want more than to grow old with you by my side,” he says and places a kiss on my neck.
“Eee! This is so exciting. I can just see it now… a large garage for you, a garden behind the house filled with rows and rows of flowers. We can even make our own little kickboxing gym for nights we can’t make it into town…” I point to different spots in front of us as I continue to discuss some of my visions.
“Sounds perfect to me,” he says, listening intently to my grandiose plans. I turn in his hold wrapping my arms around his neck.
“This is our project. I want you to have just as much say as I do.”
I can tell by the look on his face that he wants to say something. I know what he’s thinking, but I have a plan to ensure he feels like he’s sharing the responsibilities too.
“What?” I ask, already knowing what he’s going to say.
“No, honestly, I love it all. I just… I just want to contribute to it, however I can,” he says.
“Good!” I smile at him, then continue, “I was thinking of asking Gunnar to be the general contractor on the project. And you know damn well he’ll put you boys to work.”
“You bet your fine ass we will work on it. Have I told you how amazing you are?” He leans down and takes my lips in his.
“Mmm, maybe a time or two.” I giggle when he attacks my sides, tickling me until I can barely breathe.
“I fucking love you, Lottie,” he says as he grabs two large handfuls of my ass.
“Love you more…”
We make our way to where the picnic is laid out. Once we finally get ourselves situated on the blanket, Greyson opens the basket, allowing the delicious smells from the feast Nana packed for us to fill the air. “Now let's eat, I'm fricken starving.”
