Page 85 of Make You Love Me

Two weeks later-

Nori Beach

Heading into work, my brain has never been so preoccupied with a chick before. I came here for the summer to make money. Of course, I planned to get laid at some point but within my first week, I didn’t expect to meet a girl so intriguing. I mean, I want to fuck her, yeah but there’s something more between us. I don’t know how to describe it, but I just feel the need to know more about her.

I hope this arrangement I made with Ethel Richmond doesn’t fuck up my plans of getting to know Lottie.

I received a phone call yesterday from Ethel’s assistant asking about my work schedule. Ethel herself called back a few minutes later and said she would casually bring her granddaughter by my work for lunch the next day. I was to flirt with her, plant the seed, and then ask her out when the opportunity came. If this girl has any common sense, she will automatically be skeptical since a woman like Ethel Richmond typically wouldn’t be caught dead in a place like The Shack.

Lottie and I have been texting, but I don’t want to make plans with her until I know how today will go. The last thing I want is her seeing me out with another chick right after I ask her on a date.

An hour into my shift, I spot the gorgeous girl who has been taking up so much of my head space walk through the door.

How did she know? I haven’t told her where I work yet.

My stomach does a nose-dive when I see none other than Ethel Richmond in front of Lottie as she follows the hostess to my section.

No fucking way.

Can’t be.

Okay, Greyson chill… chill. This could work in my favor. I actually like Ethel’s granddaughter… as in Lottie. And if that pussy, Jonathan, from the other night is who Ethel wants her to break up with, then sayonara motherfucker.

How the fuck is this my damn luck right now?My heart is racing and not in the way it just was when I first noticed Lottie walk in. No, in the I’m scared way. Realizing I may have fucked up any real chance with Lottie by agreeing to her grandmother’s scheme.

Getting my shit together, I head over to their table. I see the minute she realizes I’m her server… her eyes widen with shock.

I’m still stunned and now I’m thinking about how I hope she doesn’t hate me when she finds out about the arrangement I made with her grandma. Even though it has nothing to do with my interest in her.

Hearing her say my name, I recover quickly. “Lottie, it’s great to see you again.”

“So crazy! I didn’t know you worked here,” Lottie says, and Ethel makes a noise to get our attention.

“Oh, I’m sorry, G, this is my gran—Ethel. This is Ethel Richmo—” Lottie starts.

“Nice to see you, Mrs. Richmond,” I interject. I refuse to pretend I don’t know her. It’s one thing to leave out the arrangement but I’m not going to lie about not knowing her grandmother.

“It’s nice to see you too, Greyson. How do you know my Charlotte?” She eyes us both.

“Wait, a second… you two know each other?” Lottie blurts, surprise on her face again.

“I’m from Richmond Hills. Everyone knows of the infamous Ethel Richmond,” I say, telling the truth.

“Yes, I’ve run into him several times at my Country Club,” Ethel says in a straightforward tone.

“But please, do share how you two know each other?” a skeptical Ethel questions.

“I met her this past weekend at my cousin's house,” I say with a big smile directed toward Lottie. “We had a really good time,” I add with a wink. A night I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.

Trying to change the subject of this awkward situation, I ask for their drink order. Of course, Ethel orders a fucking sparkling water with lemon at a beachfront shack.

I look to Lottie to get her order. “Uhm, I’ll have a sweet tea—" she says in an unsure tone.

Her grandmother chimes in, “You’ll have the sparkling water, dear. Remember it's summer, which means fewer clothes to hide behind.” Her words piss me the fuck off. I nod my head and leave the table. One sparkling water and one sweet tea coming right up,bitch.

This whole thing is starting to seem fucking fishy. A memory from the other night pops into my brain. Lottie mentioned something about being paraded around by her grandmother. I could tell she wasn’t very fond of said grandma. Now I am wondering if there’s more to this whole setup. I mean, I saw first-hand through his text message that her boyfriend is a douchebag. Lottie seemed ready to break up with his ass on her own though. Maybe Ethel underestimates her granddaughter or there is something else going on.

Honestly, I don’t know what to believe about Ethel, but I do know I don’t like the way she just spoke to Lottie. I won’t stand for that shit.
