I smile up at him. “All of that sounds perfect!”
“You sure? No pressure,” he says, quirking an eyebrow.
I nod.
He unmutes G. “Yeah, we’ll meet you. What time?”
“Oh, you’re there already…Okay, we’ll see you soon.” He ends the call.
He grabs my hand once more, kissing it, sending a tingle to my toes.
“Sorry to cut this short doll, but they’re already there. They went to eat at The Shack. Are you okay with packing it up now? I mean, I could call him back and tell him to fuck off”
“Haha! No, we can head there now, but only if you promise to make it up to me later.” I grin devilishly at him.
“Always, baby girl, always,” he answers with a smug-as-fuck look on his face.
Cocky bastard.
But I’m not going to lie, I look forward to it.
Chapter Ten
Ashley
“WAHOOOOO!” Lottie yells, looking over at me, both our hair blowing in the wind and arms up in the air. We’re sitting up on top of the backseat of Trent’s jeep as he drives us onto the beach.
Grabbing a hold of her hand in the air I say, “Thank you… I needed this vacation. It feels fucking amazing to just let loose, doesn’t it?”
This week has been one of the best of my life.
Smiling back at me, she yells, “YESSS it’s perfect!” She leans forward and rubs the top of Greyson’s head. “And so is my birthday boy...Happy birthday, baby!”
He smiles back at her, shaking his head at our silly antics. I love seeing how happy my bestie is. I’ve never seen her this way...so herself and in love. I just hope no one gets hurt when it’s time to go back to reality at the end of the summer.
Even through the dark lenses of Trent’s sunglasses, I can feel his eyes on me in the rearview mirror.
“Eyes on the road T... or should I say, the beach. You gotta keep your precious cargo safe,” I scold jokingly from my seat.
He kisses the air with his lips while looking in the mirror. “Always baby doll.”
The guys picked an awesome place on the beach for our camping site. It’s away from the crowd, a “local spot,” as they called it.
It was sexy as hell watching them get all manly as they put up our tents for the night.
Thanks to Trent’s mom, our cooler is stacked to the brim with a bunch of yummy food. The guys plan to start a bonfire at dusk so we can roast hotdogs and enjoy our mini feast.
It’s going to be a good day.
There is absolutely nothing like laying on the beach with your toes in the sand, sipping a cold one, with some good tunes playing. I haven’t been this much at peace inside my head in a long time. Lottie has passed out beside me, probably worn out from her long night in the sheets.
Luckily, her evil grandmother went out of town for the weekend, so we didn’t have to answer to her yesterday or today, which meant we slept over at the guys’ place. I cooked a big pot of sauce and meatballs for us, and Lottie baked us some cookies. We took advantage of the large pool and went for a late-night swim. Then we all went our separate ways, and let’s just say we both had a ten out of ten recommend kinda night.
Needless to say, we’re all pretty worn out today from our sleepover—or lack thereof.
Trent and Greyson don’t seem tired at all, though.
T insisted on bringing out their old skim boards from when they were younger in honor of Greyson’s birthday, and they have been at it for an hour already. You could tell the minute they first tried them out and realized they weren’t twelve-year-old boys anymore…it’s not quite as easy when you are over six feet of pure muscle. Lottie and I had some good laughs out of it, though.
