“Something is happening,” she says, squeezing her eyes shut, and then a trail of water mixed with blood falls from her legs.

“Braxton! Easton!” I shout in a panic.

They come running into the room and see me kneeling where there is blood.

“We’ve got to get her to the hospital,” I say in a panicked tone.

They help Holly out of the shower, and I rinse off quickly before getting out.

Easton is grabbing the hospital bag that we already had packed weeks ago, and Braxton is helping Holly dress.

I put some clothes on quickly before rushing out the door and into the car with everyone.

When we get to the hospital, Braxton carries Holly to the doors and they instruct us to head to the labour and delivery floor.

A nurse rushes to help us and puts Holly in a room. We fill out the paperwork and wait to hear from her doctor.

Not much time passes before our doctor walks in, proceeds to put gloves on, and asks us a bunch of questions.

I explain to him what happened, and everything I saw.

He seems fairly calm, so I try to let the panic go.

He checks Holly before he continues. “It seems the babies are ready to come into this world,” he states.

“Are you sure?” Holly asks hesitantly.

“Your water has broken. We will get you into surgery as soon as possible. Just hang tight, and you all will meet your babies today,” he says with a smile.

Tears well in Holly’s eyes.

“It’s time,” she whispers in awe.

“I can’t believe we are going to be parents today,” Easton rasps.

“Good thing we were just finishing the room today,” Braxton says with a chuckle.

“We need to call my brother and Kyla,” Holly says, and I hand her my phone since I’m pretty sure we forgot hers.

She calls her brother, and then Kyla, who both say that they will be here shortly.

I figure we would be waiting awhile, but it’s only thirty minutes later that they come in to get her ready for the c-section.

We already decided that I would be in the room with her. We had decided that if Holly decided to have more babies in future, that Easton and Braxton could then have turns in the delivery room too.

The doctor makes sure that she’s numb before starting.

There is a sheet covering, so I don’t bother trying to look. I keep my eyes locked on Holly the entire time.

There is tugging and movement, but it’s not until I hear the first cry that I move my gaze.

They ask me if I want to cut the cord and I get up, tears welling in my eyes, as I take in my son for the first time.

He wails loud like he’s not impressed from being moved from the warmth of his mom’s belly to this sterile room.

They wrap him up, and then I take him to see Holly. She smiles when she sees him, tears falling from her eyes as she takes him in.

“Time for baby number two,” the doctor says.
