We have to find a way for her to forgive us. I’m not going to make the same mistake again.

Holly deserves the best.

Chapter Seventeen

Holly

I watch everyone but my brother leave. He refuses to leave me alone and, since he’s family, he said it made sense that he stayed. I don’t need to be alone at a time like this.

He brought me food, letting me know that one of my men dropped it off. I don’t bother to correct him.

I wish they were still my men, but I can’t get over how I feel. Especially this soon after escaping that ordeal.

Not long after everyone is gone, Dante checks his phone when it goes off.

“Your men were in the hallway all day, not wanting to leave your side. Kyla just messaged and said they got a room across the street for themselves and any of us if we need to rest. They don’t want to leave your side,” he says.

“They are wasting their time,” I mutter.

He shakes his head.

“What?” I ask, snapping at him tiredly.

“I watched those men for the last month and a half. They did not give up at all. They barely slept, and they watched surveillance footage over and over again until they had a lead on who took you. It was them who figured it out,“ he says.

“And that makes what they said to me, and thought of me, okay?” I ask slowly.

He shakes his head.

“No, that doesn’t make it okay, but you guys need to talk this out. Even if it doesn’t work out between the four of you, all of you owe it to your children to at least be decent towards one another. Whether you like it or not, you guys are going to be in each other’s lives. You don’t have to be with them, but you will have some sort of relationship with them. You can’t just shut them out.”

I lay back, close my eyes, and think over his words.

We will need to find a way to get this relationship to work, whether it’s us all being together, or co-parenting.

“I’ll talk to them tomorrow,” I mutter to my brother who only nods his head.

I start falling asleep not long after. My mind and body are exhausted after everything. I hadn’t had much sleep the last month and a half, since I didn’t want to be caught off guard.

Kyla told me that Helen and her brother were in custody.

I guess that would explain why they knew they were going to be gone for a few days. Maybe they thought they could get away with lying, and not get arrested.

A chill runs down my spine thinking about them being arrested, but not giving up where I was. What if no one found me and I ran out of food? I would have died out there with no one knowing where I was.

I hope they pay for what they did.

I don’t bother trying to sleep. I know that everyone is exhausted. Kyla and her men are in the room next door; I heard them come in.

Braxton and Dylan are sleeping in each other’s arms.

They look like they are finally getting the sleep they have been missing out on.

We all have been sleeping like crap because we had no idea where Holly was, but I still find it hard to sleep.

I won’t ever forget the way Holly looked when we walked into the room.
