“When do you think that will be?” I ask, pulling her into my arms.
“I think maybe a year. I need time to plan, plus I want the babies to be a bit older,” she says with a shrug.
“Good plan,” I murmur before kissing her softly.
I pull away when claps and cheers ring out, and look to see our friends walking in with bright smiles on their faces.
One year and that will be us.
I, for one, cannot wait.
Braxton
The reception is in full swing with everyone eating, laughing, and having a good time.
I still can’t get over what Kyla’s dad had said earlier. Someone must have eventually explained to him what it meant because when it was brought up again, he turned bright red.
He meant well.
Seeing my friends’ commitment ceremony makes me even more excited to plan ours.
All of us have come a long way. We have grown tremendously in the last year.
When we hired Holly, we didn’t know how drastically our lives would change; but I knew that there was something about her. I went with my gut instinct and hired her.
That turned out to the best thing I have ever fucking did.
Everything seems to be turning out.
Especially now that Helen isn’t here to harass us anymore.
Helen was killed shortly after being sent to prison by one of the other inmates. She and her brother were facing years. There were tons of pictures and messages between them about what they planned to do. Everything was in the house when they found Holly.
Helen’s brother was going to set her up, have her killed, and run away with Holly. Holly pretty much told us that he said something like that to her, but it became even more clear when I went to visit him.
I needed to know what was going on in his head. He was all kinds of messed up, and had become obsessed with Holly. I could only hope that he meets the same fate as his sister.
Does that make me a horrible person? I don’t really care. He was going to take the woman I love, and do who knows what to her.
All I know is that I’m glad to leave that in the past.
There is no need to give them any more of our time. They are out of our lives, for good.
I am finally glad to shut that door.
Holly seems lighter now too that she doesn’t have to worry about seeing their faces anymore.
We have a great future to look forward to.
I’m so glad we were finally able to trust in her that she was what she said she was. Everything changed when we committed to trusting in her heart.
Everything turned out how I hoped it would.
I look forward to many more years together.
With my partners by my side.
Easton, Dylan, and Holly.
