That way, no one can suspect her of kidnapping me.
I want so badly to make that bitch pay for what she’s doing to me.
I hold my hand on my belly and, when I feel the babies kick, tears well in my eyes.
Right now, I’m refusing to feel hopeless.
I need to keep believing that they are out there looking for me. Even if my men don’t like me right now and believe what they saw, I would like to think they wouldn’t want any harm to come to the babies.
The door opens and Helen’s brother walks down carrying my food.
“There’s my sweet girl,” he says in a low purr.
A shudder of disgust runs through me.
I bite my lip and fight hard not to say anything.
“That’s okay, I don’t need you to talk. Maybe I should just gag you or cut out your tongue so that I won’t have to worry about you talking again,” he says, walking over and trailing a hand down my cheek.
My lip wobbles, and all I can feel is pure fear in this moment.
I close my eyes when he leans down, and I feel wetness along my cheek.
My stomach churns once I realise that he just licked me.
This is the first time he has touched me since I’ve been here, and a new fear runs through me.
“Don’t worry. It’s not our time yet. I want your fear and screams, but not yet. I need to make sure my sister is taken care of before we can be together,” he rasps into my ear.
Tears fall from my eyes.
“What are you going to do to her?” I ask.
“She thinks she can control me and run the show. No one controls me. It’s time I put her in her place,” he says, and licks the tears that fall from my eyes before pulling back.
“Once I get that baby out of you, I will put my own inside of you,” he says with a cold smile before bringing me my food and leaving, whistling a happy tune the whole way.
I let myself cry for new reasons.
I’m stuck with a different kind of monster. I need to get out of here before he makes good on his promise.
“Please find me,” I cry into the darkness.
They have to find me.
Chapter Sixteen
Easton
One month later…
I had made a list of everyone in our lives, and Kyla was making one of everyone in their lives.
I stare down at the list and try to think of anyone who would do this. All the signs point to this not being random, which means it’s someone we know or Holly knows.
They would have wanted to do this for a reason. They just found a great opportunity.
Holly wasn’t just at the right place and the right time. Braxton shows me where the man was waiting for her, watching her. We went back and could see him sitting there for a couple weeks waiting for her, in a different vehicle each time.
