I order some takeout and put a plate in the fridge for Grayson to eat whenever he’s done. I bring him water and a towel, and then prepare Levi’s plate and some water. Neither of them noticed me at all but, even though my shoulders slump, I remind myself that this is normal for them. They don’t know I need them in these times.
If they did, then I know they would be here.
I grab my plate and sit down to eat and down a bottle of water before grabbing Asher’s take-out and some water for him and heading out. Since it has been a couple hours, I know that he’s not going to be home.
As expected, he’s at the lookout but he barely notices me. He looks to see that it’s me as I drop off the bag I prepared for him with a kiss to his head. I then get in my car to turn right back around.
I decide to head to Easton’s bar instead.
No one obviously needs me tonight so I might as well kick back with a few drinks.
Something that I miss about Bethany is that she knew I couldn’t stand to be alone when I’m stressed. I could always count on her to be there.
Asher
I yawn stretch as the morning comes and birds start chirping. I guess it’s time I head home.
Last night, even though we knew Kyla had something to tell us, I still felt completely blindsided by her news.
I feel as though I can hardly breathe, thinking that we might not have had her in our lives. She has become so important to us.
Heck, I knew she would be important the moment I laid eyes on her.
Everyone was quiet the rest of the night, and Kyla barely said anything on her way home. With a light kiss to my lips, she left.
I felt like I had so many questions though.
Had she been sick since she had a transplant?
What was on her bucket list?
Were there any risks or complications now?
I wanted to tell her that no scar would ever have me turning her away. She is beautiful no matter what.
I look at my phone and don’t see any messages. My men know me though. I usually come here to think, and I imagine that they were all off doing their own thing.
I let out a sigh as I stand up and stretch my sore muscles before heading back home. My body is stiff, and it hurts from being in the same position for so long.
When I get home, I stop by Levi’s office and he’s sleeping with his head on his desk. I let out a small chuckle and gently wake him.
“Levi, come to bed,” I whisper softly.
He barely opens his eyes as he gets up and stumbles with me towards our room where we find Grayson already passed out.
He’s asleep on his stomach with a towel wrapped around his waist and doesn’t stir as Levi falls on the bed.
I frown when I don’t see Ethan. I check all the rooms in the house, but there is no sign of Ethan.
When I dial his number, it goes straight to voicemail.
I send him a text, but there is no reply. Fuck, where is he?
Chapter Fifteen
Ethan
My head pounds as I slowly open my eyes. I let out a growl and a chuckle sounds from someone in the room.
