“Listen to me.” I clutched her shoulders. “You can do this. Same as last time. We’ll be there with you the entire time.”
“I need a shower,” she said with a sour face, standing in a puddle of amniotic fluid.
I texted my brothers and got Alex into the elevator. We rode it to the second floor, where Damian and Bash met us in the bathroom.
“I’m wet,” Alex groaned.
Damian pulled the nightgown over her head. “It’s okay, Pet. Let us take care of you.”
Bastian ran the water and got in the shower with Alex and Damian.
Luca entered the bathroom a second later, dressed in black Dolce & Gabbana boxer briefs. He didn’t undress and got into the oversized stall with them. So I figured fuck it and didn’t bother either.
My older brother rubbed his hand over her stomach and bent down to wash her legs. “Deep breaths,” Luca reminded her. “You’re okay, Drea. We got you.”
Since the twins were his, we let him take control. He wanted to do everything for Alex. It was his right as the biological father. We all stepped aside for Damian when Sofia came into his life. The same would apply to Bastian and me.
Alex put her hand on his shoulder. “Is the doctor on her way?”
“Yeah, baby.” Luca rose to his full height after cleaning the lower half of her body. “She’ll be here soon. Nothing to worry about. You have plenty of time before the twins come.”
Bastian and Damian each gripped one of her arms to keep her steady. She was shaking, her nerves getting the best of her.
I moved to Luca’s side and brushed my thumb across her cheek. “You’re the strongest woman I know. Remember that, princess.”
She leaned into my hand and smiled.
“Marcello is right,” Luca agreed. “We talked about this. I planned every second of the birth with your doctor. She has this under control.”
Alex wanted to have the boys at home, but she also feared something horrible happening. So Luca designed an operating room to the doctor’s specifications. My brother had accounted for every variable. Carl Wellington would also be here for the birth just in case we needed a surgeon.
We got out of the shower.
Luca towel dried Alex’s body, getting every last drop of water. He was so good with her. I never thought I would see Luca on his knees for anyone, let alone a woman.
He adored our queen.
We all did.
ChapterNineteen
ALEX
Iwas a mom again. This time, to two of the cutest baby boys. Michelangelo and Leonardo Salvatore—the heirs to our empire.
Leo had my blonde curly hair, while Angelo’s was black like his father. They looked like Luca’s baby pictures, down to the curve of his face. The same nose, even the same denim blue eyes. They could also pass as Marcello’s sons.
I sat beside Luca on the couch in the twins’ room, cradling our tired boys in our arms. Luca held open a collector’s edition ofPeter Panthat his mother had read to him, speaking aloud for everyone to hear.
Bastian and Marcello leaned against the wall beside Damian, who held Sofia against his chest. She’d already dozed off, but the sound of Luca’s voice seemed to comfort all of our children. We did this every night for the past two months.
Tonight was special.
We were leaving Devil’s Creek to have some fun at The Mansion. It had been a while since I was feeling up to going there.
Eight weeks.
That was how long I’d made it without sex. I was like a dog in heat, humping my husband’s legs. I hated the wait time after delivery. For the first few weeks, I didn’t notice all that much. I was sore and tired and up all night with my babies.
