“Lily?”

“Jason, I’m so glad you’re okay. You had me worried.”

I shook my head. “Me? I left you alone with the entire pack, Royal Guard, and rebel members. My wolf has been going crazy inside me with worry that something would happen to you and I couldn’t be there to protect you.”

Lily smiled, her face softening and her body relaxing as she got closer and grabbed my hand. She pulled it up to her mouth, softly kissing my knuckles and then pulling my hand into her chest. “You don’t have to worry about me. Simon is taking very good care of me. He has been very supportive and helpful in keeping everyone in line.”

I released a breath, realizing the tension I had kept locked inside. Dean had told me that Simon was with her, but I had needed to hear from her that she was safe. “That man was more of a father to me than my own father. I would expect nothing less from him. You’ll be safe as long as he’s around.”

Lily laughed, the sound causing my stomach to tighten and do somersaults. I grinned at her, loving when she let herself go. I pulled her toward me, capturing her lips with mine. She grinned into the kiss, her shoulders shaking in silent laughter.

“I love you.”

Lily

I froze as Jason pulled back, a smile on his face. I gripped his hand as I waited for him to say more. He stayed frustratingly silent, staring back at me with amusement. I narrowed my eyes, staring until he burst out laughing. I threw my hands up, releasing him.

“Are you kidding me?”

“Calm down, Lily.”

I paced up and down the small curtained area, throwing my arms up as I moved. My anger was building as I realized what was going on. “No, I can’t calm down. You just told me you loved me as a fucking joke. This isn’t fucking funny. I didn’t tell you I loved you because I was fucking joking. I was being serious.”

“Lily!” Jason yelled. I froze, turning around to look at him. He was sitting there, looking amused. He had his head tilted and he softened toward me, waving me toward him. I sighed, frowning and walked toward him. He patted the edge of the bed and I sat down, keeping my gaze on my hands.

“Lily, you know I didn’t tell you as a joke. I do love you.”

I froze again. Jason smiled, grabbing my hand and kissing my knuckles. “I love you with every-fucking-thing I am, Lily. I’m completely fucking serious. I’ve never been more serious about something in my life.”

I sucked in a sharp breath. Jason wrapped his hand around my neck, pulling me in. He leaned his forehead against mine and released a breath. “I love you, Lily. You are my mate and - I hope soon - will be my wife.Youare my forever.”

I let my breath out as my first tear dropped. He pulled me closer, kissing me hard. I stood up without breaking off the kiss and swung my leg over Jason’s body. I lowered myself slowly onto him, pressing my hips into him. He groaned, gripping my hips tightly and pulling me toward him, making my center rub against him.

A whimper escaped from me and I ground down even harder. Our pace increased, our breaths mingling as our passion increased. I wrapped my arms around his neck and rubbed even harder, my core starting to tighten. Jason groaned as I began to shudder and I broke off the kiss, throwing my head back and moaning as I came hard.

I slowed down, looking down at Jason with a bashful look. My cheeks heated and I moved to get off of his lap, but he clamped his down on my hips again, preventing me from moving. I gave him a questioning look, trying to figure out what he wanted without words. His lips tilted up in a small smile and he pressed his lips against mine, hard. I smiled back at him, my cheeks still hot.

“Your Majesties! Oh!”

I looked over my shoulder to see Simon standing in the open area, facing away from us. I cleared my throat and climbed off of Jason. He carefully shifted the blanket on his lap, a look of amusement and mischief on his face. I squirmed in my seat, my face completely red and heated, not able to look up at Simon as he approached Jason.

“The rebels are getting a bit anxious to speak with you.”

Jason looked at me with a question on his face. I took a deep breath. “Yeah, I forgot to tell you what happened while I was outside.”

Jason tensed and his hands formed into fists. I gave him a placating smile, patting his hand. “It wasn’t bad. Don’t get uptight. Just listen to everything.”

Jason frowned, then nodded, letting his fists loosen. “Tell me.”

Simon looked uncomfortable, shifting his weight around.

I continued to pat Jason’s hand. “As I had Dean take you to the infirmary, I kind of took care of things.”

“What kind of things?”

“I told the rebels that we would host an audience to answer questions right now. They are all in the War Room eating snacks and resting until we’re ready for them. The Royal Guards have taken up their normal places to protect our land while the transition of power is happening. The pack members have been sent back to their homes with a promise of their own question and answer session, as well as a celebration of your claiming the throne. Simon has agreed to help us manage this transition smoothly and peacefully. Now, I’m in here making sure you’re okay before heading to address the rebels.”
