“I don’t believe that for a second.”
“I was! I totally was way too mean to her.”
“You don’t have a mean bone in your body.”
“Oh, please. You’re just biased. I can absolutely be mean. I promise you’ll see it one of these days. You’ll do something to piss me off eventually,” Lily rolled her eyes with a grin. I chuckled, shaking my head.
“Well, I’ll let you keep that incorrect opinion for now. Tell me where your family was located and their names. I’ll get Shaun on it right away,” I said, flopping back onto the bed, tucking a hand under my head.
Lily snuggled up in my arms again, her gaze heavy on me. She waited until I looked down at her. “You will?”
I kissed her head. “Of course I will.” We settled down and dozed for a bit. I was just getting to the point of drifting into a deeper sleep when my phone went off. Lily jerked out of my embrace and sat up, groaning.
“Lily?”
“Mmm…”
“You awake?”
“No.”
“You seem awake.”
“Don’t want to be.”
“I can tell, but you are.”
“No.”
“You’re sitting up,” I replied, trying to keep from laughing. It was a mute point because Lily flopped back down on the bed, facing away from me, pulling the blanket over her shoulder and snuggling into the pillow. I rolled over and placed my head in the crook of her neck. My wolf rushed up, wanting to bite her again. He was very excited to have his mate in his bed.
“Lily…”
“Mmm.”
“Come on, baby girl. It’s time to get up.”
“No.”
“Lily,” I laughed, gently pulling at the blanket. Lily pulled it back over her shoulders. “It’s time to get up.”
“Touch me and die.”
I shook my head and got out of the bed. Dean and Amara were sitting up and stretching. I eyed Dean, linking to him with our pack bond. You slept with her last night?
Dean jerked his head up toward me, his eyes wide. He visibly relaxed after Amara glanced at him with a question on her face.Yeah, I did. Nothing happened.
I tried to force my smile down, clearing my throat and going into the bathroom.Oh, I’m aware. I would have heard it, but still…what happened to her being a human and you not wanting to mate with her?
I’m not mating with her. She’s not my mate.
You slept with her last night, Dean.
That doesn’t mean anything.
I walked out of the bathroom, raising my eyebrows and tilting my head at Dean. He glanced at me, then avoided my gaze. He turned away from me, pretending to straighten the bedding. I shook my head, thoroughly amused. I went back to where Lily was still in bed. She had fallen back asleep and I smiled as I sat on the bed next to her. I grabbed her shoulder and shook it. She moaned, obviously not happy with me.
“Lily, come on. We need to get going.”
