Seth squeezed River’s hand while Tai’s arm tightened around her. Tears pricked her eyes, too. Suddenly, she’d gone from being an orphan to having two parents again.
“So, what now?” Sun asked. Of the group, she seemed the least emotional at the moment, but she’d been the youngest. She had no memory of a time that wasn’t just Mom. River still saw the reluctant wistfulness in her. Sun needed their dad and Suzette and their new sisters, too. River and her three sisters had made a life and a new family here in Daly, but they could have more. Couldn’t they?
“We’d like to be a part of your lives again,” Leo answered. “Suzette, the girls and I plan to stay in town at the bed and breakfast for at least the next week. If you can free up some time, we’d love to spend it with you.”
“Sun can have off all the time she needs,” Robert offered, giving her shoulders a squeeze.
“Robert…” she whispered, staring at him with wide, “shut-up!” eyes.
Yeah, there was something going on there, and as River glanced around, she saw Paisley and Moon had clued in to it, too.
“Maybe, you and River can have lunch tomorrow,” Tai put in. Okay, great. Apparently, all the guys were going to push this, not that River was reluctant. But still…
“I can drive you,” Seth whispered against her ear.
“Sounds great to me.” Leo smiled at her. “River?”
“Yes, let’s plan on it, but I have an appointment in the morning, so can we make it a late lunch.” Beside her, both her men stiffened.
Her father nodded, and she settled into her guys’ shelter again while a chaos of plans ensued around them. After another hour, they were all ready to head their separate ways. River hugged her old and new family, whispering “we’re talking soon!” to Sun then left with Seth and Tai.
Chapter Six
“How are you with everything?” They’d barely lost sight of the Laurel Ridge ranch house when Seth voiced his question.
“Overwhelmed…amazed…happy…terrified of telling him—”
He cut her off. “It’ll be okay. Now, about this appointment tomorrow…?”
“Um, yeah,” Tai asked. “Were you going to let us know?”
“Of course. Well…” Great, well, fuck. She ducked her head and studied her hands where she’d clenched them in her lap. “Look, I suck at this relationship thing and letting people be part of my stuff. My last boyfriend wouldn’t—”
She gasped as Seth pulled her chin toward him and planted his mouth on hers. He slid his tongue between her parted lips, tasting and claiming her. At the same time, both hands slipped into her hair, cupping her head and guiding her to the angle he wanted. She clenched her fists in his shirt and cried out as she felt herself falling backward into Tai, who was driving. In a moment, she discovered she needn’t have worried. Tai must have parked the car on the side of the road. He turned to lean against the truck’s door and supported her back against his chest while Seth climbed over her, straddling her hips and never breaking the kiss.
“We aren’t your no-good, lazy, abusive ex-boyfriend, baby,” Tai muttered against the top of her head. “We’re your partners, your lovers, in this one-hundred percent with you. We want to know about your appointments, and we want to be there to hold your hands while you talk to the doctors. We’ll take care of you when you’re sick and laugh with you when you’re not.”
“And fuck you.” Seth bit her bottom lip, growling.
She melted. “So romantic.”
“Oh, I’ll romance you, love. Just not right now.” Seth nipped her at the juncture of her neck and shoulder. River moaned, arching into him, one leg wiggling free of his and wrapping around his waist. Her apex rubbed against his rigid cock, sending pleasure shooting through her. He groaned as she moved, pressing harder into her. His fingers gripped her hip to hold her where he wanted her. Not to be left out, Tai cupped her breasts, his thumbs flicking over her nipples.
“God,” River gasped. Sensations overwhelmed her. She closed her eyes, so happy to be with her men. She reached for Seth’s shirt, wanting to feel his bare skin beneath her palms.
The honk of a horn startled them all from the moment, and River craned her neck to look around Tai, just knowing it was one of her sisters. River and her guys had been the first to leave. Of course, the others would be coming down this road.
Moon had slowed beside them in her little car. She pointed at River, shook her head then cracked up laughing. River dropped her face into Tai’s shoulder.
“Fuck me,” she cursed, the sound muffled by his solid muscle.
“We were trying to—”
“That’s not what I mean.” River swatted at Seth’s chest. “We can’t do this here. Sun will be by in a sec…and my dad and his family.” She sighed. “Now, there’s something I never thought I’d say.”
“But it’s good, right?” Tai asked. His hand ran up and down her arm. Though he sought to soothe her, goose bumps lifted across her skin. Damn, she needed him.
“Having my dad catch us in sex?”
