Chapter 10

Joseph

Unlike the restof the team, Nathaniel’s response to Madeline when we’d left her house yesterday hadn’t shocked me at all. Like me, he couldn’t get her out of his mind. I knew he’d been thinking of her all week, and we were both looking forward to seeing her again tonight. Before I’d followed Nat out, I’d reminded her that nothing had changed between us, even given the current circumstances. In fact, knowing she was potentially in the sights of this fucked up serial killer had us feeling even more protective of her.

We were both extremely unhappy with the fact she wouldn’t move to a safe house, but at this juncture there was nothing we could do to persuade her. Yes, we’d played at Black Light, but she wasn’t our collared sub, which meant that, unless we dragged her kicking and screaming, there wasn’t much more we could do beyond making our displeasure known. With time, maybe she’d see reason and the need to please us might change her mind. We could only hope. In the meantime, I contacted our boss and requested a security detail be placed on Madeline, since we were confident the letter had come from Casanova. There was no mention of a safe house. Yet. He reluctantly agreed.

Nathaniel’s parting kiss also required me to speak with the team. Short of threatening them, although we didn’t have an ounce of leverage to use, there wasn’t much I could do should they decide to go to our superiors about what they’d witnessed. Especially knowing they weren’t particularly fond of Nat. I was the one always smoothing stung egos.

Which was maybe why I found it incredibly surprising when Kurt shrugged off the discussion. “She’s probably safer being with you two anyway. I know you guys will do whatever it takes to protect her.” I was a little floored by his nonchalant acceptance and non-judgmental attitude of the three of us together if the truth be told. The other guys were harder to read. There was a mixture of skepticism and envy in their expressions. Only time would tell if there were any repercussions from Nat’s actions today.

I’d called Madeline a few hours after we’d left yesterday to check in and get the names of her former Doms. Nat’s and my time today had been spent interviewing them as well as consulting with a handwriting and forensic document analyst. She confirmed the letter Madeline had received was a 99.9% match to every other letter written by Casanova. Which meant that she was, in fact, his next potential target. So long as he didn’t deviate from his prior M.O., which statistically wouldn’t happen, we were already at six months, which meant we needed to find him fast.

A glance at the clock told me that it was time to get ready to pick up our sub.

“I’m heading to the locker room for a quick shower.”

Nat nodded absently, his focus on the computer monitor in front of him. “I’ll be there in a bit. I want to finish this last bit of research I’m doing on a Vincenzo ‘Vince’ Russo. He was Madeline’s last long-term Dom. According to him, they broke up about three months ago. He was cagey about the reasoning though.”

I heard the suspicion and, perhaps, envy. From our interview with Madeline at the station, I’d gathered she was still recovering from the breakup, although it had happened months ago. She didn’t explain why they broke up or who was responsible for it. My fists clenched with the need to punch this unknown Dom for hurting our woman, because she was obviously still hurting whether she admitted it or not. I wanted to soothe her hurts. Like Nat, I was also curious about the reason for their breakup. “I’m sure Madeline would have told us if there was something suspicious about him. You’re looking for something that isn’t there.”

He glanced up at me briefly before his gaze returned to his screen. “I’m ruling out potential suspects.”

I shook my head. “If you need to know that bad why they broke up, then ask Madeline.”

“Oh, I plan on it. Have no doubt.”

Knowing how stubborn Nat was, I knew she was in for a serious interrogation. He may not have realized it yet, but he was starting to fall for her. We both wanted to know everything about her, but more so Nat. He hated secrets. He also despised lies. Knowing his past, it was completely understandable. They were the two things he couldn’t forgive.

Leaving him to his obsessive researching, I headed to the locker room, anxious to see our angel again.

At precisely fiveminutes before seven we pulled into Madeline’s driveway. Nat’s hair was still damp from the quick shower he’d taken. Like me, he was wearing a pair of leathers with matching black leather boots. The fall nights were quickly turning cooler so we both wore long-sleeved shirts, but I knew the minute we entered Black Light, they would be coming off. Especially since we’d be playing with Madeline. My cock twitched at the thought.

Nat and I had talked on the way about getting some answers from our sub. I paused for a moment and relished in how easily I’d started thinking of Madeline as ours. It might take Nat a little longer to get there. I knew my best friend though, probably better than he knew himself, and there was no doubt he was heading in that direction.

“You feel it, don’t you?” He looked over at me just as I started opening my door.

I glanced over my shoulder, knowing exactly what he was referring to. “I do.”

He only nodded, accepting my answer, before heading up the walk to Madeline’s door and knocking.

My sharp inhalation matched his growl when the door swung open and the vision appeared in front of us. As though to defy the angelic image she’d presented last week, tonight she was wearing a black dress. But not just any black dress. One with a v-shaped, plunging neckline spread so far apart half of her breasts were exposed before it tapered to a point between her belly button and pubis. The hem didn’t even reach mid-thigh. Holy fuck.I was torn. Part of me wanted to bend her over, slide that tiny piece of fabric she called a dress up, and fuck that tight pussy raw. The other part wanted to drag her inside and make her change into something else so no one could see her body but us.

Madeline threw us a look that said she knew exactly how affected we were at the sight. Oh, the little sub thought she could tease us. Obviously she’d enjoyed last week’s punishment so much she was ready for another and I was more than happy to oblige.

“You’re enjoying making us fucking hard as a rock, aren’t you pet? That dress should be illegal.”

She giggled and twirled in a circle giving us the full view. The back matched the front with the tapered vee stopping just above her ass crack, and the hem hugged the curve of her ass. It was going to be a pleasure stripping it off her body.

“Do you like it?” Her hands smoothed the fabric down her belly and hips. “I’ve never worn it before tonight so I wasn’t sure how it would look.”

Beside me Nat let out a sound of pleasure. “Pet, if I liked it any more you’d have to beat me off with a stick. You’re absolutely stunning. You’ll be the envy of every woman tonight, because they know there’s no comparing to your beauty.”

While I stared slack-jawed at the poetic compliment I’d never heard from him before, Madeline blushed prettily and stood on tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek.

“That’s so sweet of you.”

He stepped so close to her there was barely an inch separating them and leaned down, his lips brushing against her ear. “Pet, there’s nothing sweet about me. My only thought right now is using one of my knives to cut this so-called dress off you and thrusting so far inside that pussy my come will still be dripping out of you days from now.”

She whimpered at his words.

He moved away, his fists clenched like he was fighting the urge to reach out. “Now, let’s get going before I forget all about this concert and your watchdog on the street and drag you upstairs to fuck you ten ways to Sunday.”

“Ready?” I offered her my arm. Immediately, she slipped her hand through the crook of it and did the same with Nat when he offered her his as well.

“We’ll continue this at Black Light,” he promised.
