“That’s something you never need to worry about. The longer we’re together, the worse my affliction seems to get.”

“In this case, worse is better.”

“Worse is much better.”

With a deftness that never failed to amaze her, he had them both naked and heading for their bed in a matter of minutes.

“Tell me if anything hurts.”

“I have this ache…”

“The good kind or the bad kind?”

“The very best kind.”

“I’ve missed this so much,” he said as he pressed his muscular body against her. Despite their best intentions, Sam had been in no mood for anything sexual since her injury. The pain had put a damper on everything, even her favorite things.

“I have, too. Sorry to be such a drag these last few weeks.”

“Baby, you were hurt. You weren’t a drag. And P.S., to my great shock, you were also an excellent patient.”

Laughing, she gave him an elbow to the gut. “I hated every minute of being a patient, and I’m going to hate every minute of being on desk duty for the next month. I’ve added ice in parking lots to the list of things I hate the most—flying, needles and ice.”

“We hate ice.”

“We hate ice more than flying.”

“Wow. That’s big.”

Sam curled her hand around his erection. “Speaking of things that are big…”

He groaned. “It’s not going to take much to…”

Sam stroked him and loved the way he lost his train of thought.

“Are you up for being creative?” he asked.

“Always.”

“Can you turn onto your left side?”

“If you help me.”

When he had her positioned the way he wanted her, he curled up behind her and ran his hands over every inch of her fevered skin until he had her on the verge of begging for relief. “Nick…”

“What, honey?”

“Don’t ‘what, honey’ me. You know what I want!”

“Does it go something like this?” He began to push into her from behind.

“Yes,” she said on a long exhale, grasping the arm he had around her. “It goes just like that.”

“Missed this so much,” he whispered. “Don’t break any more bones, you hear me?”

“Mmm, no more broken bones.”

He cupped her breast and toyed with her nipple and then slid his hand down to caress between her legs.
