“How can you know that?”

“Because this is another ploy to get me back, and I’m not coming back. Even if you’re pregnant and the baby is mine, which I highly doubt, I’m not coming back to you.”

“If you want to see your kid, you’ll do what I say,” she said in the ugly tone that had so surprised him when he’d first heard her disparaging Gigi’s ethnicity.

“Not happening. Honestly, Jaycee, you could be pregnant with triplets and I wouldn’t care. Now that I’ve seen who you really are, I’ve got nothing more to say to you.”

He started up the stairs, stepping around her.

“You can’t honestly want her more than you want me.”

“Not only do I want her more, I love her like I’ve never loved anyone. Now get out of here before I report that you’re violating the no-contact order. We gave you a break the last time. We won’t do it again.”

“What break did you give me? I got charged and had to go to court!”

“Whose fault was that?” He turned back to face her. “I’m going to say this in the simplest possible terms—go away. Leave me alone. Or I’ll make your life a living hell.”

“Too late. You already have.”

“Nah, you did that all on your own. You have one minute to leave, or I’m making a call to Dispatch.”

“Cameron! Don’t do this!”

He stepped into his condo, closed the door and locked it.

Gigi stood waiting for him with his pug, Jeffrey, at her feet.

Cameron looked out the window by the door to see what Jaycee would do. He was relieved when she walked down the stairs and headed for her car. “I was so wrapped up in you that I didn’t notice her car in the lot,” he said, chilled by the realization. “I’m sorry about that.”

“I’m not.”

Surprised, he turned to her. “No?”

She shook her head. “Thanks to her, I found out you love me like you’ve never loved anyone.”

Immediately flustered, he started to say something, but the words died on his lips.

Gigi laughed. “I did hear that right, didn’t I?”

“Yeah,” he said gruffly. “You did, but I’m sorry you had to hear it like that.”

“Again, not sorry.”

She came to him, wrapped her arms around his neck and went up on tiptoes to plant a soft, sweet, sexy kiss on him. “Best thing I’ve ever heard.”

“Really?”

Nodding, she kissed him again.

“Best thing I’ve ever felt.”

“Same.”

Pulling back, he looked down at her. “So, what you’re saying is that you feel the same way?”

“I do.”

Cameron hugged her tightly, breathing in the rich, fragrant scent that would forever remind him of his love. “I never knew it could be like this. I had no idea.”
