Lakyn glances at me and arches an eyebrow. “We?”

“Yeah,” I say tucking my hair behind my ears and turning to face him. I tuck my legs underneath myself and smile widely. “Aftyn is dead, Willa is dead, and Trixie is too! Now it’ll be just us forever!”

He smirks as he flicks the ashes off the end of his cigarette, then clears his throat as he turns his attention back toward the road.

“And what makes you think that Red?” he asks, barely containing a laugh.

I blink in confusion a few times.

I’ve done the math for him—I’m not sure what else he expects me to say.

“Everyone that could ever come between us is gone now,” I respond in confusion.

“Almost.”

He gives me a knowing, sly grin and I smile again. I had almost forgotten about Ichabod, but that seems to be the flavor of the past few days, anyway.

Two scoops of who the hell is Ichabod, please.

But then I get a great idea.

“I can do it if you can’t,” I tell Lakyn coyly as I begin to twirl my hair around my finger.

“Do what?”

“Take care of Ichabod, obviously.”

He looks like he’s mulling the offer over. He knows what I can do—all he has to do is give me the go ahead and I’ll get the job done. I wouldn’t expect him to be able to handle it himself because they’ve had so much history, but I barely know the man and I’m more than capable.

Lakyn sucks his teeth as he glances into the rearview mirror, then eases his car to the side of the road.

He motions with his head for me to exit the car and I do, eagerly meeting him in the front. He looks me up and down for a moment, rubbing his chin thoughtfully before he shrugs.

“What makes you think I can’t do that myself?” he asks evenly.

“Because… you would have done it already.”

“And I haven’t,” he confirms as he crosses his arms over his chest.

I take a step back in confusion, but quickly regain the ground I lost and wrap my arms around his waist, look up into his beautiful blue eyes, and smile happily.

“Okay, he can stay with us as long as he doesn’t get in the way,” I agree.

Lakyn drapes his arms around my shoulders, lowers his face toward mine, and I close my eyes in anticipation of feeling his lips. I’m almost shaking with the excitement of knowing that he agrees with me.

“Not in this lifetime, baby,” he whispers hotly against my lips. Giving me a rough shove, he spins me around, rips my pants down and bends me over the hood of his car. “But I will thank you for giving me the heads up about the kid and the bitch.”

“What—Ouch!”

Lakyn laughs as he thrusts his dick deep into my ass and begins thrusting. I try to claw at his wrists—he’s giving me the one thing I’ve been dying for since I met him, but it hurts so much because he’s not giving me a chance to—

“How’s that dick feel, Red?” he grunts as he pushes deeper into me. “Everything you thought it would be?”

I can’t help but start crying.

If not from the pain alone, but from the feeling of being used all over again. I thought Lakyn loved me, cared about me, and he’s treating me like any other bastard that’s ever looked at me and thought I was weak.

“Stop!” I manage to screech through a sob which only makes him laugh harder and thrust faster.
