I felt Leila still staring at me while I was washing the fruits.
“What is it?” I asked her because she seemed to want to ask me something.
She gave me scrutinizing gaze before replying. “Are you in your proper headspace now?” she asked in her usual casually cold voice.
I just glanced at her before deciding to shrug off her question
I just don’t think I’m already in a mood to talk right now.
. She was probably still worried about me even after our conversation yesterday. Well, I would hardly call that a conversation since she was the one who mostly did the talking.
She did mention that Lucas has been acting quietly odd as well.
Tsk. The thought just made me scoff. Oh, he’s totally fine, alright. I’m pretty sure he has been acting like his normal self, just the usual ruthless Alpha of Blood Moon. Meanwhile, here I am, still trying to figure out how to live day by day, knowing that another Alpha just shattered my already crumpled heart.
Damn it.
I decided to just brush those thoughts out of my mind as I busied myself with the kitchen tasks. While cutting the ingredients, I realized that Leila was right about what she told me yesterday. The feuds outside our pack have continued for the past few days, and it was getting rougher and rougher. There has been news about the ongoing chaos, and Lucas continued to prepare our men for an upcoming war. It seems like war is inevitable after all.
I guess it is bound to happen in a few days.
That sucked, by the way, because we are practically on the verge of a possible war, and yet all I think about is my freaking heartbreak.
Damn it. I also hate it, alright. I hate that I have been so driven by my emotions for the past few days. I hate that the pain I was feeling caused me to behave horribly.
I massaged my temples as I placed the finished dish on the cart.
“Leila, I’ll go ahead and train. I won’t be serving lunch,” I said to Leila while removing my apron. She arched her brow at me.
“You won’t even eat?” she asked.
I shrugged. “I’ll eat later.”
I didn’t wait for her to respond and left the kitchen already and immediately walked fast towards the training room. I even bumped into some of the pack warriors at some point, but I ignored them since I was not in the mood for a friendly chat.
I went inside the training room to get my bow and arrows and started shooting on the board. I was in the middle of shooting when someone went inside the room.
My eyes darted at the intruder and realized that it was Beta Darius.
“Hey!” he greeted enthusiastically while flashing his annoying smirk.
“What?” I asked him in return.
Damn it. I can’t really seem to have a hold of my tongue today.
He laughed and shook his head. “Come on, so grumpy. Are you still not okay with Lucas?” he probed.
I didn’t respond. Instead, I just started shooting on the board again.
That’s just probably a taunt disguised as a question anyway.
I heard him get his weapons as well.
“You two are just so confusing,” he started again.
I just kept on shooting on the board, totally ignoring him. But he looked unfazed because he kept on babbling and babbling like it was the only thing he could do.
My veins protruded in irritation. Should I remind him that I have an especially low tolerance for bullshits today? He’s really starting to get on my nerves.
