Shit. I couldn’t stop crying.

“Shh, what is it? What is it hmm? Celine?” he asked in a tender voice, trying his best to console me.

He kept asking me how I was, but my sobs overpowered my voice. I buried my face in his chest. The situation had gone out of my head already. I wasn’t even thinking we might get into trouble because Michael was there. I just wanted to cry and cry in his arms.

“Celine, you can tell me. What is it? Did that bastard do something to you, huh? What did he do?”

I closed my eyes tightly as I cried even more. I slowly pulled away from his hug and faced him. His forehead was creased as he carefully looked at me. I bit my lip hard.

“H-He was the mate that I-I was talking about… I-I was banished because the Alpha rejected me. It’s a tradition, Lucas. He rejected me, and I was banished. I-I was forced to accept the r-rejection. I couldn’t do anything. N-Now I-I’m feeling the pull a-again…I-I don’t even know why,” I cried to him like I was some child looking for sympathy.

I saw how Lucas was so stunned because of what I said. That made me cry even more. I covered my face with both my hands. He remained quiet for a few minutes.

Does he feel disgusted because I was connected with his enemy?

What if he banished me, too? What if he let go of me because of this? What if he will not let me stay in his pack anymore? I cannot handle that. Just thinking about it makes my heart break already. Fuck.

“Alpha! Celine!”

Our silence was broken when we heard that voice.

Both of us turned to where the voice was coming from.

“Leila!” I called her back, but I suddenly felt a strong force that blasted me away from where I was standing.

My body was suspended in the air before I descended to the ground. I groaned as I felt the pain all over my body.

“Celine!” Lucas shouted.

“Ahh!” I cried in pain. Fuck! I felt my head spinning because of the excruciating pain that I was feeling. Shit.

I was so dizzy because of the impact. All I could hear was Lucas’ angry growl and hurried footsteps. The next thing I knew, my vision turned black.

I didn’t know what happened after I lost my consciousness in the forest. I just found myself waking up in a clinic as I try to catch my breath.

My hand flew to my neck when I felt the dryness of my throat. How long did I sleep?

“Celine,” a familiar voice called my name.

“L-Leila...” I said as I started to see her face. She immediately looked at me.

“Hey, are you okay?” she said and sat beside me.

“Celine!” I couldn’t say anything when I heard Alpha Lucas’ voice. “Hey, hey, hey…” he said as he hugged me.

My mouth parted a bit. I slowly looked up at Leila and saw her blankly looking at us. She gave me a small smile before turning around to leave.

I slowly hugged Lucas back. I heard him sigh before pulling away from the hug. He cupped my face, which surprised me a bit that I couldn’t help but blush.

His expressive eyes intently stared at me. “You made me so fucking worried,” he said in a husky voice.

My heart was leaping with joy as we stared at each other. I could see the anxiousness in his face while he was caressing my face with his finger.

“W-What happened?” I asked.

He heaved a sigh while caressing my hair. “Michael’s companion came for back up. They knocked you out,” he explained. His jaw clenched while saying those.

I pressed my lips together.
