“What the fuck!”I cursed under my breath.
My eyes widened in shock. I took a step back when she walked toward me. Fear crawled in my body as I looked at her angry and mocking face.
I swallowed hard. “W-What are you d-doing here?” I tried so hard to make sure my voice sounded firm, not letting her notice the effect she had on me.
I kept stepping back while she walked toward me with that scary smirk on her face. I didn’t want to tremble under her presence, but I could not seem to control the ominous feeling within me as she continued to approach me.
“What’s wrong? Are you scared?” She asked in a mocking tone. “The nerve of you to pull that stunt earlier, huh! You bitch!”
“Ouch!” I didn’t expect her next move, so she was able to grab my hair. Wrath was written all over her face as she stared down at me.
I held onto her hand, which was holding my hair. As much as I wanted to fight back, I couldn’t. She was taller than me and undoubtedly much stronger.
I tried getting her grip off my hair, but she tightened it even more. I cried hard when she held my chin and squeezed it tight.
“Hmm!” I mumbled in pain. I saw how Daria’s teeth gritted while looking at me. I felt the hot tears pouring down my eyes.
“You worthless piece of shit! You really are getting on my nerves!”
“Please, Daria!” I cried. “What did I do this time?”
“Ha! You really didn’t know?” she asked, her face full of disgust. “I’ll tell you,” she pulled at her hair once again.
“Aww!?” I yelped in pain.
“First, you were so ambitious to train for the Luna games. Then, you dared push me and make me look like a fool in front of the whole class! And you’re flirting at Michael.”
“Ahh!” I screamed when she pushed me so hard that I fell to the ground. I immediately felt the stinging pain in my hand when it hit the rough ground.
“Stay away from Michael! Or I’ll make sure you suffer worse than that! Do you understand me?!” Daria’s voice growled. She slapped my face, sending me flying to the ground once again.
I held my breath as I tried to balance myself. I felt a strong wind blowing and heard the rustling of the leaves. When I dared look back at Daria, she was gone. My mouth parted as I tried hard to contain the sobs. But eventually, I wasn’t able to control it. I let out a howl which echoed in the vast and empty forest. The trees, leaves, and the soil where I sat were the witnesses to my agony.
When will this end? Will this even end?
I hated being weak. I hated being stepped upon. I hated that everyone in the pack looked at me like I was a goddamn vermin!

I was exhausted the whole day. After that scene in the forest, I immediately went home to the house that was provided for me by the pack. It was not the same house that I had with my family before. It was only a small house, but it was enough for me.
I slammed my back on my bed and stared at the empty ceiling above.
There was no use in going back to training. I’ve experienced enough for a day already.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I wished my father was not murdered by the barbaric Bloodmoon pack. I wanted my mother didn’t die of childbirth. Maybe if they were still with me, they could help me be strong. I would have someone to cheer me on when everything wasn’t turning my way. My life wouldn’t be this fucked up.
If only that Bloodmoon Pack didn’t kill my father, I would still have him here. Those ruthless mutts were demons. They would take whatever fortune the pack they, unfortunately, attacked. And then they slaughter them like worthless dogs. I heard they were really strong and powerful. We used stories of them to scare off the little children in our pack. To be honest, not only the children were scared of them. All of us were.
I swallowed hard and opened my eyes. I looked at the wall beside my bed. There was a calendar hanging there. My forehead creased upon noticing the red mark on one date. Slowly, I got up off the bed and walked toward the wall to get a closer look at the marked date. I tried to recall what date it was today.
Hold on! The marked date was tomorrow.
My eyes widened in shock when I realized something.
Oh my gosh, it’s my birthday tomorrow!
It would be my eighteenth birthday which meant that my wolf would probably be awakened. If that is the case, my wolf might give me more strength. Then I wouldn’t be the weak Celine that everybody was laughing about. I might also get a whiff of my mate’s scent. Then I wouldn’t have to live alone anymore.
