“Of course, I won’t!” I exclaimed. She just nodded in satisfaction.

“Then let’s get this started,” she smirked.

“Let’s do it,” I said, grinning.

We started our training that night in high spirits.

Since I wasn’t able to train last night, Leila made sure that I would be able to catch up with all her lessons, causing us to spend almost eight hours, I think? Ah, I lost count, to be honest. I think I just slept an hour before I got up again and went to the kitchen. I was able to get back to the mansion without anyone noticing because of Leila.

I could barely remember how she distracted the guards, which made me able to go inside unnoticed. Gosh, sometimes, I really think that I don’t know Leila at all. Her strategies are out of the world.

I yawned, but I quickly turned my head away. I couldn’t recall how many times I was cursing myself in my head already. We were already at the dining table and serving the alpha his breakfast. I was with three other omegas, and I couldn’t stop yawning. I was so tired that I wanted to sleep, but then I knew I couldn’t. Lucas shouldn’t know I was not sleeping properly because of my secret training sessions with Leila.

“You seemed tired. Were you up late last night?”

Oh fuck.

Chapter Eighteen

“S-Sir?”

Shit! I wanted to smack my head because that response was just so dumb! I swallowed hard and straightened myself. Hell, I felt like I was being interrogated for a crime in the way he was looking at me. It felt like he was scrutinizing me with his stares.

“Are you okay? You look odd. Your dark circles are distracting? Are you even sleeping well?”

I froze as I tried to come up with any excuses. Damn it.

. “Celine,” he called again.

I almost jumped on my feet. “Uh, I-I’m fine, Alpha. I was adjusting myself to the new environment,” I answered.

I cursed myself in my head. Who the hell in their right mind would take that as an excuse for eyebags. Shit.

I bit my lip and looked down. I felt him staring at me, so I averted my eyes.

“Oh, I see. How many days will it take you to completely adjust then?” he asked.

I blinked, trying to think of another answer. He’s being sarcastic right now.

“M-My apologies, Alpha,” was all I could say. I didn’t want to say anything else because it might worsen.

Leila’s right. Alpha Lucas is a very observant werewolf. Among us, he also has the most powerful senses, all of us. If something, I need to be more cautious with my actions and choice of words next time.

Thankfully, Lucas didn’t dig deeper into it. I sighed in relief. Damn. I think that was the longest breakfast that I ever attended.

“You look more exhausted than ever,” Leila commented when I left the dining room. Her arms were crossed on her chest, and she raised her brows at me. I made a face and looked around. I took a deep breath and gently pulled her to the kitchen corner. Everybody was doing their chores already, and Leila was monitoring their tasks here. Since I was done with my assigned chores, I didn't need to help them anymore. I’ll be doing my other tasks in the mansion once the Alpha and the warriors leave later.

“I’m nervous!” I whispered to her.

“What?” she eyed me. “What did you do again?” she asked in an accusing tone.

My eyes widened, and I immediately shook my head.

“I didn’t do anything! I just quietly served his breakfast,” I asked defensively.

She rolled her eyes.

“Then why are you nervous, and what’s with your face, huh?”
