“You look filthy. You should consider taking a bath, you know,” she said before resuming washing her feet.
My mouth parted a bit as I slowly looked at my clothes. Shit. I really look filthy. That’s why I also feel so sticky as well. I tried to sniff myself and only grimaced at my awful smell. A sigh of frustration escaped my lips. How long have I passed out anyway? Am I here for days already or what? I groaned.
Damn it.I hope someone can answer my questions now.
My eyes darted at the woman again; she was busy washing her feet and arms in the river. Right, I should also try to wash up. There’s no way that I could walk around smelling like decomposing garbage.
I swallowed hard before slowly going into the water, trying my best to distance myself from the woman. She looks harmless, but I still don’t trust her.
“Tsk. Chill out. I’m not going to pounce on you or something,” she said, chuckling.
My eyes furrowed at her words. I didn’t know that she was capable of being friendly. Either way, I still decided to ignore her and just proceeded to wash my arms and my feet, trying to remove any visible dirt on my skin using my hands.
“So, are you a lone wolf?” she suddenly asked. My body froze. Memories of what happened during the ceremony flashed in my mind. I gritted my teeth as I felt a sharp pain in my chest.
Michael… he betrayed me. He chose another woman as his mate. And that very woman also tried to kill me.
I blinked back the tears threatening to fall from my eyes and focused my attention on the water. There’s no use crying about this after all.
“Uhm y-yeah… I guess I am,” I muttered in a shaking voice.
She didn’t answer. Silence reigned between the two of us until I heard the water splashing, and when I looked at her, she was already walking away from me.
That’s odd. She just casually walked away without saying a word and even left her basket there.
Whatever. Maybe she has something urgent to do.
I shook my head and just focused on cleaning myself. The turquoise river looks so serene. It babbles and ripples as I submerge my feet in it. It seemed like the water was calling to me, enticing me to immerse myself in its glorious stream. I checked my surroundings before finally deciding to remove my clothes. A satisfied sigh escaped my lips as I let my body soak in the water.
The water feels cool against my skin, perfectly refreshing my body and mind. I let myself float in the river, feeling its calming presence embracing my body. This is exactly what I need right now, something that would temporarily ease my mind from all the problems that I am facing. I took a deep breath before diving into the river, feeling as if the water subtly embraced my whole body like a soft blanket. I stayed there for a while until I finally decided to push myself back to the surface.
“Wooh!” I exclaimed, and a rush of joy erupted in my chest.
I was about to resume scrubbing myself when I suddenly felt a weird sensation. My furrowed as I stopped from my tracks.
I feel like I am being watched.
My eyes wandered around, checking if someone was gawking at me. I was shocked when I saw a mysterious-looking man standing by the side of the river. He was crossing his arms while coldly staring at me.
“Ahh!” I shouted in terror as I frantically tried to swim back to the rock where I had left my clothes.
Fuck!I panicked when I noticed the man casually gawking at me as I tried to grab my clothes. Who on earth is this man, and why is he staring at a naked woman like some sort of an entertainment show?
He clenched his jaw as he stared at me intently like a predator eying its prey. The way his disheveled hair crowned his head gave me an impression of his brute nature. His tantalizing blue eyes were surveying my every move. His perfectly shaped nose and face reminded me of the previous Alphas I have seen in my life. Sure, he was good-looking and blessed with a very masculine build, but he’s still a fucking pervert! How can he just gaze at me like that when I am completely naked?
Shit. What the hell! “Who are you, and why the fuck are you watching me?” I shouted angrily. I couldn’t get out of the water because of him! He was still staring at me like some freaking maniac!
I glared my eyes at him, expressing my apparent disdain for his perverted actions. But he was unfazed. In fact, he just stood there with his hands in his jeans pockets while blankly staring at me.
What the hell? What’s wrong with this guy?
“Damn it, can you turn around? I’m naked!” I hollered.
He just mockingly raised a brow at me. Oh my God! I can’t believe this guy.
“Hey, I said turn around!” I said once again, obviously irritated now.
He sighed exasperatedly before lazily turning around to face the tree behind him.
