The crowd cheered even more when I fell to the ground.

“And the winner of the annual Luna Games is none other than Daria!”

“Wooh!”

“Daria! Daria! Daria!”

“Surprisingly, the second place goes to Celine!”

My feet wobbled, and I almost fell to the ground when someone suddenly grabbed me by my arm so I could stand. There were still cheers from the crowd, but it was not as loud as Daria’s. I composed myself and tried my best to look fine even though I could feel all my wounds aching.

It’s fine, Celine. Your wounds will heal immediately anyway.

“Everyone, I want you to meet your new Luna . . .”

I automatically looked in Michael’s direction when I heard that. A glimpse of hope rose in me as I turned to him, but it was immediately shattered when I saw Michael looking at the proud Daria.

“Daria will be your new Luna!” Michael announced with a broad smile on his face. The crowd went wild again and cheered for her while I was shocked as I looked at him in disbelief. The anger within me erupted like a volcano. My hands trembled as I gritted my teeth in pure rage.

How can he do this to me?

I harshly freed my hand from the grip of the man who helped me and marched towards Michael.

“She’s not your mate! I am your mate, Michael!” I shouted with all my might. The cheering immediately stopped, and everyone’s attention was on me already.

I heard the murmurs and gasps of the audience. Michael’s parents were looking at him confusingly.

“Michael, what is the meaning of this?” the former Alpha asked.

I stared at Michael fiercely. He swallowed hard before locking in with my eyes.

“And I reject you. I, Michael, the Alpha of Crestmoon Pack, reject you, Celine, to be my mate. Even though you did well in the Luna Games, you still didn’t prove yourself enough to be the Luna of this pack. You need to accept it whether you like it or not.”

My eyes widened in shock. I gasped hard, along with the murmurs and whispers of the crowd.

My eyes blurred from the tears that were threatening to fall. Shit. After all the things that I did. After coming into this game. I wasn’t still enough for him!

I couldn’t move. My whole body was shaking. My heart is full of grief and anger towards him.

“What are you waiting for, Celine? Follow your Alpha’s command,” Daria spat, a smirk plastered across her face. I looked at Michael and his family. They were looking at me as if they were all waiting for my acceptance.

Wow. My father offered his utmost loyalty to them. He died for the honor of this pack. I also grew up so I could offer the same degree of loyalty to them, and yet, this is what I get in return?

“Accept the rejection, Celine. That is an order,” Michael’s voice thundered. I clenched my fist and gritted my teeth as anger clouded my whole being.

“I, Celine, accept your rejection.”

And with that, I suddenly felt the bond slowly dissipating. A moment later, I could no longer feel his scent.

Chapter Five

Pain and anger. That’s what I felt that night. They banished me without hesitation in the middle of that freaking ceremony. I wiped my tears harshly as I ran towards the depth of the forest. I wasn’t able to bring all of my belongings, not that I have a lot.

I clenched my hands tight as I stopped and fell to my knees. All I could see were the big tall trees surrounding me. The moon was bright, and it gave me the light I needed that night. I closed my eyes tight as I wept and howled for my bitter fate. Was this really it? What should I do now? I was alone, and I had no one else to go to.

I sobbed hard and poured out all the tears I had been holding until I could no longer feel the pain and anger I had felt earlier. I became numb. I didn’t know how long I was staring at the trees in front of me, but after crying and weeping hard, I just found myself not feeling anything anymore.

I guess I have already reached the limit of my tears.
