I was taken back from my momentary daydreaming when someone spoke beside me. My body immediately turned in Lucas’ direction, and there I saw him with his usual getup.
I swallowed the lump in my throat as I watched him talk to some of the warriors. I hadn’t seen him for a few days and couldn’t help but miss him during those times. And now that he’s here in front of me, the longingness that I was feeling only intensified. I suddenly felt the urge to go and hug him tight.
Shit. What the hell?
I wanted to immediately avert my gaze from him, but it seemed like my body had a mind of its own because instead of averting my eyes, I just found myself walking toward him. His eyes briefly drifted in my direction, and my heart immediately skipped a bit. But just when I was about to take another step toward him, he suddenly withdrew his eyes from me and started to walk away.
I was stunned by his actions. Did he just avoid me?
So that was it, huh?
After the kiss we shared and every confusing hint he has shown me, he would act as if nothing happened? This is unbelievable!
Chapter Forty-Eight
“Make sure you follow up our spies.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Any news about the rogues in the south?”
“Still none, but our alliance in the south was already making contact with them.”
“That’s good. Tell me if there’s any improvement.”
And from there, I saw Lucas going in the opposite direction to talk to some other warriors. I hissed in irritation. Tsk. He has the time to talk to everyone but me. Great. Just fucking great, Lucas.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms on my chest as I continued watching him from afar. I honestly don’t know what his deal is this time. I mean, why is he avoiding me? The last time I checked, I didn’t do anything to him! It was even him who kissed me! Now, he’s the one acting like this, like I don’t exist?! A wave of irritation rose within me.
I fisted my palm in anger. I swear, I could feel my face burning up. His actions are really pissing me off. I don’t know why he’s avoiding me and why he’s acting like nothing happened! Hell, can’t I at least get an explanation from him? Or maybe we could fucking talk about it? Just anything that could prevent me from totally losing my mind right now!
One day, he was so sweet and caring, the next day, we were making out, and after that, he already decided to ditch me? Who’s not going to be pissed with that attitude, huh?
Tsk.
“Hmm. If looks could kill, Alpha Lucas would be lying on his pool of blood,” Leila’s voice whispered in my ear.
My eyes darted at her, and I noticed that she was grinning, obviously teasing me. But I gave her a bored look, the same expression she would always wear in front of me. Then I turned my back on her, not planning to engage in a conversation with her if her only plan was to tease me. I heard her mutter some incomprehensible mumbles, but I could care less.
I hissed again and just stared at Lucas, who was still talking to someone from afar. That just made my irritation grow even more. I was so pissed that I decided to just walk away already. Tsk.
“Celine, where are you going?!” I heard Leila calling me. I didn’t answer and just headed to the training room. I trained there alone and released my frustrations through the arrows that I was using for shooting.
I hate this! Damn it.

“Our troops won!”
Everybody cheered when we heard what Gamma Brian said. Everyone in the field turned to the warriors who had just arrived. They were greeted by the Beta and the Alpha, who were equally happy as them.
I sighed as I looked at the pack members who were cheering at each other.
“Leila, prepare a meal for everyone this evening,” Lucas ordered. They were just a few meters away from us, so I saw when he approached her.
I rolled my eyes again. He was still not talking to me. It’s as if I don’t exist. That made me angrier. Heck, if he didn’t want to talk, then don’t. I’m willing to be in his game for as long as he likes. Tsk.
I gritted my teeth and aimed at the board again. I released the arrows simultaneously to release my frustrations. I didn’t know how long I stayed in the training room. I had just stopped shooting when Leila told me it was time to prepare the meals. I heaved a sigh and just fixed my things first before following her quietly.
