“What should I do, Father?” I whispered. I closed my eyes and thought of the possible ways to reverse my situation. As if on cue, an idea came to me.
I gasped and quickly stood. I left the house without thinking too much and walked up to the Alpha’s house. Everyone was busy with tonight’s games and coronation, but I have no time for that. I needed to see Michael. I didn’t mind the surroundings and went straight to Michael’s house. The servants were used to my presence already, so they did not budge when I went inside. I scanned the place for Michael. Luckily, I saw him in the living room talking to some wolves. I took a deep breath to gather courage and then marched to him.
“Michael,” I called.
They all stopped talking and quickly looked at me. Michael looked shocked as he stared at me.
“Celine, what are you doing here.”
I knew what I needed to do. I need to prove myself. If not for my affections for Michael, then at least for my right to stay in this pack.
“Don’t make a decision yet,” I said to him. He raised a quizzing brow at me. “I will prove my worth to you. I will show you that I am not the weak, fragile she-wolf you thought me to be.”
“How are you going to prove that?”
I took a deep breath. I wasn’t ready to do this, but I will take a shot. “I will compete in the Luna Games.”
Chapter Four
Michael’s eyes widened in shock after I announced my desire to join the Luna games tonight. He frantically pulled my wrist and dragged me away from the living room to escape the prying eyes of everyone. Michael stopped and immediately let go of my hand when we reached the kitchen. He anxiously looked around, checking if anyone was trying to eavesdrop.
Then he turned to face me. “Are you being serious right now?” he asked in disbelief, his words dripping with frustration.
I stared at him intently. “I am serious, Michael. I can prove to you that I am not a weakling and can be strong and fearless. Just like how you like your Luna,” I said with conviction.
His eyebrows furrowed while looking at me with a bewildered expression. “Are you challenging me, Celine?”
I kept my straight face, trying to look unfazed by his reaction.
That’s right. I need to show him my resolve.
“Just watch and see, Michael. I’ll show you what I’m truly capable of. After this night, you’ll never think of shoving me away from this pack again,” I said firmly.
But instead of being moved by my words, his expression says otherwise. He crumpled his forehead and looked at me with a disdainful expression.
“Very well. Do what you want. See if you can please me,” he uttered nonchalantly before turning his back on me so he could go back to his friends.
I shut my eyes firmly and heaved a sigh.
Shit, I just said it. That’s it. I can’t back down from my words now.
Alright, I need to start preparing now. I looked around before walking out of the kitchen, keeping my head down as I walked back to my house. There, I got my things and clothes ready. The Luna Games are designed by the elder wolves. It is a complex game consisting of three rounds. Each round represents a specific skill that a strong she-wolf must possess.
Now, the first round is all about channeling our inner wolves. It’s quite interesting since it measures how we control our power and shift to our wolf forms. But it’s not all about transformation alone because this round also tests our senses in times of danger.
Next is the second round, which emphasized the usage of weapons like bow and arrow, swords, and just about any weapon of your choice. Lastly, the third round will showcase our combat skills.
It won’t be easy for sure, so I needed to be ready for it.
But to be honest, I am confident that I would be able to pass the first round. My father taught me how to shift when I was just thirteen years old, and I must say that I am great at controlling my wolf. Although I haven’t shifted for a long time since my father died, I know in myself that I will be able to handle it. After all, my wolf is stronger and more awakened now. So round one shouldn’t be a problem.
For the second round, I will be using a bow and arrow. But with my current skills, I would need to practice more; the same goes for the third round.
I may be at a disadvantage here, but it won’t stop me from achieving what I want.
Yes, I will surely win this. They can’t banish me from this pack because I am worthy of being here and becoming their Luna.
I grabbed my things and hurriedly went to the archery room. Everyone was already busy practicing, so I decided to find a quiet spot for me. I prepared my bow and arrow and heaved a deep breath while staring at the target.
