I massaged my temples. “Is that so?”

Lucas was right tho. I was once part of the Crest Moon pack, so I am more familiar with the place. Besides, I could not give much information during our previous intel sessions. So this is an opportunity for me to be more useful to them.

Lucas rested his back on his swivel chair while staring at me. “Are you ready to go back?” He asked with a hint of challenge in his eyes.

Go back, huh?

A smile finally emerged from my lips as I slowly turned to face him in the eyes.

"Yes," I said with a firmer resolve.

He looks satisfied with my answer. A hint of amusement was evident in his eyes before he nodded.

"Great. Now, it’s time to show them the new you."

Chapter Twenty-Seven

I couldn't recall how long it had been since I was banished from the Crest Moon pack. I sighed as I packed my weapons and the other things I would need for the rescue mission.

It’s happening. I’m going back to my former pack. Not for a visit, but to rescue my current pack mates. It’s unbelievable how things have changed. Now, I belong to a pack I once viewed as our enemy.

I quietly stared at the mirror in front of me. This is the version of myself who experienced a lot of heartbreaks, pain, suffering, and failures but still managed to grow. That is all thanks to the Blood Moon pack, who accepted and trained me after being banished.

Now, it’s time for me to pay back their kindness.

I looked at myself for the last time before turning my back to leave the room. I walked to the field where the other warriors were already waiting. Beta Darius greeted me with a curt nod when he saw me approaching, so I also nodded back at him.

In front of us were Alpha Lucas, Beta, and Gamma.

"All of you have been briefed on the plan. I need you to stay on your duties. Stick to the plan. Do not work on your own. Always follow the plan. Do you understand?" Gamma instructed.

"Yes, sir!" we all said in unison.

Lucas scanned the entirety of the warriors as the Gamma and Beta took over the briefing. I focused my eyes in front and kept both of my hands behind me, clasped together.

“Let us think about our allies who were held captive in their territory. Our priority is their safety, do you understand?” Beta ordered.

“Yes, Beta!”

Beta Darius nodded. “Alright, let’s go.”

Gamma led the way, followed by Beta Darius and Alpha Lucas.

We were split into different sub-units once we exited our territory. I was about to go to my team when a hand suddenly grabbed my arm. I stopped in my tracks and immediately turned around to see who it was.

“A-Alpha Lucas?” I stuttered.

I stared at his hand on my arm. Strangely, I suddenly felt my heart violently pounding against my chest.

“You’re coming with me. I need you to tell me the ins and outs of the pack,” he said.

I saw how Beta Darius looked at him intently. I wasn’t able to react right away. I felt a lump in my throat when our eyes met. I took a deep breath before giving a small smile to him.

“Okay, Alpha,” I said. He nodded. I waited and tried to see if he would remove his hand from my arm, but he didn’t. He walked past, and I tried to keep up as he almost dragged me with him.

What is up with him?He looked anxious and eager to keep me at his side.

I looked up at Beta Darius and found him staring at Lucas’s hand on my arm, too.
