I froze in my seat and averted my eyes.

"Uhm. I-I just want to thank him," I said, feeling a little embarrassed.

My eyes wander around and. I saw some of the warriors around me. Some were still on the bed, while others could already stand.

I heaved a sigh and massaged my head.

"I'll just check the others," Leila said and went to the other recovering werewolves.

I was left here alone, staring at the other pack warriors. A few seconds later, I decided to lie down again and tried to sleep. Maybe it was because of the medicine or the exhaustion that I drifted to sleep immediately.

I woke up feeling much better. I was greeted by one of the pack doctors. She gave me some medicine for body pain and dressed up my wounds. Hell, I didn't even notice that I had injuries! Those rogues were really something, huh.

I tried to get out of my bed while glancing at the window, and I noticed that it was already dark outside;

"Hey, you're not allowed to stand up yet," one of the pack doctors said.

"Uhh, I'm already fine. I need to go to the mansion already," I said.

"No, it's the Alpha's order. You need to rest and gain your strength again."

"But I feel fine-"

"Go back to bed, Celine."

We both stopped in our tracks when he heard a familiar authoritative voice. I slowly turned my head in the direction of the voice, and there I saw Alpha Lucas leaning on the all while intently staring at me.

"A-Alpha…" I heard the doctor tremble.

I pressed my lips together and avoided his gaze.

Shit. Why do I always feel nervous when he’s around?

I was playing with my finger when I heard his footsteps approaching me. My heart pounded wildly against my chest as I felt his presence beside me.

"Rest. You need to regain your strength," he said in an oddly calming voice.

I jolted from my seat when I felt his hand gently caressing my arm. My lips parted in shock as my eyes darted toward him.

I was welcomed by his penetrating gaze… slowly slipping into my soul. His eyes are like a pair of moonlight orbs, a mystifying work of art.

He subtly tapped my shoulder. “You need to have a full recovery,” he said in a gentle voice.

"W-What about your dishes," I asked quietly.

He just stared at me. "No need to worry about that. We have a lot of servants,” he answered as he guided me back to the bed again.

I didn't have a choice but lie down. He quietly tucked me into the bed sheets so I could finally rest. I gazed at Lucas as I witnessed another side of him. My face heated up in embarrassment.

Damn. I thought that Alpha Lucas was nothing but an unfeeling bastard. But here he is, taking care of me by himself. My heart rumbled wildly against my chest, almost deafening my ears.

Oh my gosh. What is happening with you, Celine? Oh gosh, oh gosh…

"Rest. You can go back once you're healed," he said once more

His eyes lingered on me for a few minutes, and I couldn’t help but reciprocate his gaze. It was as if I was hypnotized by the enigmatic trance behind his pair of blue orbs.

We locked our eyes for a few seconds before he finally withdrew.
