Sometimes I wonder if that’s what made their pack united and invincible. They are one. They were not bringing each other down; no matter how bad they are portrayed outside, they do not bring bad vibes and emotion into the pack.

I took a deep breath and turned my back on Sheena as I went to my room to quickly change, and then I marched to the training room already. While on my way there, I noticed Alpha Lucas giving our warriors instructions on the field. I stopped in my tracks and stared at them from afar. I found myself studying the Alpha for a few minutes. There was really something with him today. I wondered why he was in the living room, staring at the portrait, last night. I sighed and just shook my head again.

“Ha! Ha! Yah!”

“Nice move!”

A smile crept on my lips when I heard Leila clapping her hands. I let out a breath and let go of the man that I was sparring with. We looked at each other and bowed. He left after that, and I went to Leila with a smile on my face.

She smirked at me. “Now, I can see the improvement,” Leila praised.

My smile went wider at her compliment.

“Really?” I said, excited and very damn happy.

But then Leila’s a party pooper who rolled her eyes on me. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. You still have to train your agility, though,” she said. I just nodded at her. My smile was still unfazed.

“Celine.”

We both faltered when we heard a familiar cold voice. We both turned around and were greeted by Alpha Lucas, whose both hands were in his pocket. I gave out a small smile.

“Good day, Alpha,” I greeted him. He nodded at me and then to Leila before looking back at me.

“Intel,” he said curtly. I immediately understood and nodded at him. We both walked to our usual table and chairs here. Leila then instructed the other warriors to leave and went to her usual spot in the corner. Lucas and I sat.

Both my hands were on the table while his arms were crossed on his chest. He cleared his throat.

“Do you have access to their battle strategy? Or do you observe how they train their warriors and all? What about their goals as a pack? What do they want in the Werewolf Realm?”

I bit my lip. Woah, throwing me a bunch of questions in one go. He’s not in a hurry, is he?

I pouted and took a deep breath. I clasped my hands together. “Honestly, I do not have inside information of their battle strategy and their plans politically. The council and the officials were very secretive. If you’re an ordinary werewolf, most likely, you will just be a follower. Whatever they say, you will follow, and that’s it. We were also not that exposed outside. Whatever news we hear inside were from the pack warriors and the officials themselves.”

Lucas’ forehead creased. “You do not know anything about their plans? Not a thing? A connection?”

I heaved a sigh. “I wasn’t really involved with the politics in the pack. So, I’m sorry, I do not know anything about that. Until now, the things that I know were from their narratives. I don’t even know if those were really the truth anyway,” I said meaningfully.

Lucas stared at me. I matched his gaze to show him that I was telling the truth. His eyes speak of a lot of emotion, I could see and feel it, but then I couldn’t point out one-by-one what those are. But the way he looked at me, it was like he was frustrated, angry, surprised, and confused at the same time.

The past few days, I have been observant of him. And I saw that aside from the harshness he always showed us, he also kept different emotions in him. Emotions were not usual for an Alpha like him. It may not have been displayed in his actions, but his eyes and the way he looks speak so much about how he feels. I am not to be assuming here or anything, but for the days I have been observing him, I could already tell if there was something wrong or if he was in a good mood by looking at his eyes. That’s when I thought that maybe the cruelty in him was just a facade. Maybe there was something more about the Blood Moon pack’s Alpha. Maybe just like his pack, Alpha Lucas was a hard shell outside but a softie inside.

I don’t know, but the more I think about that, the more my respect for him grows.

Chapter Twenty-Three

“Congratulations, Celine!”

I couldn’t help but smile at the omegas who were cheering for me on the right side of the center field. They were all lined up in one straight line. Across them were the pack warriors, and in the center were the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma.

“Thank you!” I said to each of them.

They were giggling as I hugged them one by one. Until now, I still couldn’t believe that this day was happening. Hell, I wasn’t even aiming for this! I mean, all I wanted when I asked for that training was to be able to protect myself and to be able to strengthen myself. All I wanted was to contribute in any way that I could. I was fine with being an omega as long as I knew how to fight, but then the Moon Goddess gave me something more.

Blood Moon gave me something more.

“Congratulations,” my smile widened when I was already in front of Leila. I sighed and pulled her into a tight hug.
