I pressed my lips together and looked at Leila, who just raised a brow at the pack’s second-in-command. This she-wolf was really something. I mean, she’s the only werewolf I know who seemed not to be scared of anyone, even the Alpha! And she seemed to be so casual with the Beta as well. It makes me wonder just who exactly Leila is in this pack.
She stood up and withdrew herself from Darius. The Beta just shook his head and stood up as well. He briefly glanced at Leila before wiping the dirt on his shirt. I pouted my lip a bit.
“Damn, you’re still the same, Leila. You don’t get rusty at all,” the Beta smirked and shook his head. I looked at Leila in confusion, but she still had her usual indifferent expression.
Seriously? I looked at Beta Darius again, but he was already leaving the training room. I heaved a sigh. Alpha Lucas did follow his end of the deal. My trainers weren’t just the warriors. The Beta, Leila, and even him were monitoring me. Yesterday, Alpha Lucas joined Leila and me in training, and I flopped as hell.
I was so conscious of his presence that I couldn’t focus. And so, he scolded me for that. Now, I need to be more focused.
I cleared my throat and turned to Leila, who was already arranging the swords on the side. I tiptoed to her.
“Shall we start again?” I asked. She stopped and then looked at me.
“Break time. Let’s get back after five. After that, Lucas will come to train you personally. It’s your intel session with him as well.”
My eyes widened.
“What?” that was all I could say in shock. I wasn’t ready! Damn!
“Yes. Why are you so shocked?” she asked in a monotone before going back to what she was doing. I blinked my eyes multiple times and bit my lip.
“Uh, n-nothing! I-I was just uhm,” I said and scratched my head. Damn it!
I heard Leila chuckling before turning to me. She then patted my shoulder. “You can do it. Rest first. We’ll start in a bit so that you won’t embarrass yourself again later,” she smirked.
Ugh, does she really has to remind me that?
I let out a sigh and sat on the bench, thinking about how I could survive my session later. Damn it.

“That’s it?” Lucas’ eyes narrowed. I took a deep breath before slowly nodding. He shifted in his seat and crossed his arms. We sat on two opposite benches with a small table between us.
I sat straight and tried to look at him, too. It was our intel time, and I just gave him all I knew about Crest Moon. This is my end of the deal.
“So, it has always been that family, huh?” he asked. I nodded.
“Yes, a lot of warriors and even rogues challenged them already, but they all lost anyway.”
“How long has their blood held the throne?”
I shrugged. “Centuries, I guess. My father said it has always been them in the lead ever since he was born.”
I remembered my father telling me that. That’s how powerful Michael’s family was. I guess it just made sense that he wanted a fierce and strong mate, huh. He needs to keep the power in their family.
“Interesting,” Lucas said, his forefinger was already under his chin as if he was thinking about something. I stayed still as I silently watched him. He heaved a sigh and then turned to me. I immediately shifted my gaze away from him.
A deafening silence covered us. A few seconds later, he cleared his throat.
“That’s it for now. Let’s proceed with your training,” he stood, and with that, my heart started to beat abnormally.
Shit. Here we go. I looked at Leila, who was still in the corner of the room and quietly watching us. I eyed her to ask for help, but she just raised a brow at me.
“Let’s go, Celine,” Lucas said, which made me spring up in my seat.
Damn it.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for a second just to focus and be on my best feet today. I cannot afford to be sloppy today. I went to Lucas, who was already folding his sleeves to his elbow. I sighed and conditioned myself as well.
