To say I was surprised would be an understatement because I was beyond shocked. Shit! Is this true? I can’t believe I’m finally going to train with the warriors. Alpha Lucas even mentioned that he was going to monitor my progress himself.

I glanced at Leila in excitement, but as cool as she was, she just gave me a smile and a thumbs up. I covered my mouth with my hand to contain my excitement before turning back to Alpha Lucas. I tried so hard to contain my smile as I was facing him. He only raised his brow at me.

“Are you in for the challenge?”

“Yes!” I immediately said, almost cutting him off. I bit my lip again to stop myself from smiling so hard. Leila cleared her throat, probably fighting the urge to laugh at me.

The Alpha, on the other hand, just looked at me emotionlessly. I immediately pulled myself together and put on a serious face. Damn, why does he has to be so indifferent all the time?

“So, you will be starting tomorrow. I will need to talk to Leila and Darius to fix your schedule because you cannot give up your post as my cook here in the mansion,” he said and looked at Leila.

“Thank you, Alpha,” I said in utmost sincerity.

He looked at me once more. The way his blue eyes gaze at me reminds me of the ocean. It was unfathomable, mysterious, yet beautiful. Something in his eyes somewhat entices me to stare at them longer. My heart suddenly pounded as our eyes locked for a few seconds. Damn it.

“Just make sure that you will be true to your word. I need you to be an intel. We need everything you know about Crest Moon,” he said firmly.

I pressed my lips together and nodded at him.

“I owe this pack my second life. I have no reason to even try to betray you,” I replied in all honesty.

We looked at each other again. “Good. You may leave now. I’ll talk to Leila first,” he ordered.

My eyes darted to Leila. I gave her a worried look, but she just gave me a nod. I let out a sigh and just nodded as well.

I don’t know what they will talk about, but I guess Leila would be just fine.

I exited the room as I was ordered to do. Another smile emerged from my lips while I was heading out of the office. I probably look like a weirdo again, but I could care less because I was genuinely happy after a few days of staying here for the first time.

I am thankful that the Alpha finally allowed me to have formal training. I don’t need to hide the fact that I was training secretly and that I lack sleep because of that. This time, I could train more freely.

I went straight to my room after that. I took a quick shower first before going back to work. My smile still didn’t falter while I was doing my chores. Just a few minutes before lunch, Leila approached me and told me that after cooking lunch for the Alpha, I could already rest because I would already start my training later once the Warriors got back from their mission outside. That made me even more excited.

Right after the Alpha had lunch, I went back to my room to rest, just like Leila said. A sigh escaped my lips as I slumped my butt on the bed. I stared at the ceiling. Suddenly, I thought of what the Alpha said to me earlier, specifically his condition with this training. He wanted me to be an intel for Crest Moon.

Hmm, I could do that. I mean, I won’t lose anything. Plus, they banished me even after all the things that my family did for them. We have been loyal to them, but this is what they gave me in exchange. Thinking about it now, it’s just ironic. Because the pack I thought would back me up now that I am an orphan was the one who threw me out because I wasn’t of use to them, and here’s this pack whom everyone hated and feared who gave me the chance of a second life. The ruthless Blood Moon pack took me in when I had no one. They gave me shelter, food, and clothes.

As I thought about this, I remembered my father. I suddenly wondered how my father would react to my situation right now. The pack whom he served threw me out, while the pack whom he fought was the one who helped me. I thought of his story then. It was said that he died because the Bloodmoon pack ambushed them. Other than that, there were no details about it, and I didn’t bother to think about it because I was too preoccupied with mourning. But now that I think of it again, I began to crave answers and details.

What really happened that night? What was the ambush all about? Why is the Blood Moon still going after Crest Moon? If what I witnessed the past days was true that they were just doing the weak some favors and were really in for justice, then is the Crest Moon the real bad guys?

I sighed and eventually sat on the bed again. I looked at the small picture frame of my father on the side table, the only thing I managed to bring when my old pack banished me. Now that I began thinking about my father’s death, various questions suddenly flashed through my mind. Why did I not think about this earlier? It’s still a mystery to me how my father exactly died during that night.

I stared at the blank space in front of me as I pondered about those things. I am on the enemy’s turf; at least that’s what they fed us way back in Crest Moon. Maybe I could do something here. If there’s someone who knew about what happened that night, it would only be the Crest Moon and the Blood Moon.

Damn. That’s it. Aside from training and keeping myself strong, I could also use this opportunity to look for the things I have been questioning my whole life. Right, this opportunity for that.

I turned to my father’s pictures again. “Don’t worry, Father, I will get to the bottom of how you died.”

Chapter Twenty-One

Alpha Lucas didn’t waste any time after he made that decision. The next day, my training started, and my schedule was arranged. I would no longer be doing the other chores other than cooking. After every meal, I would go to the training area, which happens to be the room where Leila used to train me.

If the warriors were out for some errands, Leila stood as their proxy—the days passed by in a blur. The next thing I knew, I was already in my first week of training. My body seemed to adjust to the workload as well. I mean, I still feel the pain in my joints and muscles, but it’s not as painful as before when I could just barely get out of my bed. I’m more used to it now.

“Be careful with this move, Celine. You need to make sure that you have the upper hand and that your opponent cannot recover once he’s on the ground,” Leila instructed as she demonstrated a combat move with Beta Darius.

“Uh, can you let go of me now, please?” the Beta irked. We both looked at him, who was on the ground. His face was just an inch away from the floor, and his hands were on his back while Leila was holding it.
