Page 36 of The Forbidden Alpha

That made me even more nervous to the point that my heart was already knocking on my chest to go out. That became even worse when we finally walked inside the Alpha’s office room, I guess? I mean, there were four huge shelves at his back. He had a large table and a huge swivel chair as well. At the center was a lounge-like setup with two long couches facing each other and a table in the center.

“Darius, leave us,” I almost jumped to my feet when I heard that. His voice was so cold that it sent shivers to my spine. Damn it. Now, I’m more scared! Fuck.

I almost held my breath when I heard the door shut behind us. I took a deep breath and sighed. I was so scared and nervous that I couldn’t even look at the Alpha. When I looked at Leila, she still managed to appear calm and even look at the Alpha in the eyes.

Oh, damn it.

“Come closer,” he demanded, to which we followed. I was just tailing Leila as we went close to his table. I could feel the rusty taste of blood on my lips. “Now, why don’t you two tell me what you were up to for the last few nights?”

I closed my eyes, trying to think of a good answer. But I couldn’t seem to find the right words to reply, so I just waited for Leila to speak or something, but she remained quiet as well. I cursed mentally. Fuck. Why is she not saying anything?! Was this the plan?! She didn’t tell me! I looked down and didn’t utter a word.

“Celine.”

Shit. I felt my knees quivering in fear. I wanted to avert his gaze. But the authority in his voice was too imposing that I had to look at him. I was greeted by a pair of his cold eyes, scrutinizing my whole being.

“Uhmm…” I tried to compose a sentence, but I couldn’t continue it. Shit.

“What were you doing for the past days behind my back?” I could hear the anger in his voice which made my whole body panic.

“I -”

“I will say it, Alpha,” Leila cut me. My mouth parted, and I immediately looked at her, who was still bravely looking at the Alpha, eye-to-eye.

That made me panic even more! Fuck. I was scared of my fate, alright, but I cannot fathom that Leila would be punished because of this when I was the one who convinced her to do this. I won’t let her take the blame. So I gathered all my courage to face Lucas myself.

“I asked her to train me… secretly,” I said quickly. I could feel my labor as I uttered those words.

“What?” Alpha Lucas’ angry growl filled the room. I closed my eyes tight. I swear I couldn’t hear anything else other than my heartbeat. I felt the dryness of my throat as I waited for him to lash out at me.

There was a long silence between us. I was just waiting for him to lash out, but a few minutes later, it didn’t happen. That’s when I finally dared to open my eyes again. To my surprise, both Leila and the Alpha were just looking at me. Leila’s brows were furrowed, while Lucas was just staring at me, emotionless.

“She trained you?” he asked. I swallowed hard and just nodded, not having the strength to speak. He then turned to Leila. “How does she do in training?”

I looked at Leila nervously. She glanced at me before turning to the Alpha and shrugged. “She’s fine. Not that exquisite, but she’s willing to learn,” Leila casually replied.

My mouth parted a bit. Is that a compliment or what?

I was pulled back to reality when I felt the Alpha looking in my direction. His eyes bore to me coldly. I fidgeted as I endured his penetrating gaze.

“You really want to train, huh? You don’t give up, do you?” he asked, shaking his head. I heaved a sigh and pressed my lips together. I shook my head in response.

Never. I don’t give up on my goals.

He gave me an amused look before nodding as if he thought about something great.

“Fine, I have a proposition,” he said as he rested his back on his chair.

My eyes widened in disbelief. “W-What proposition?” I asked.

He looked at Leila and me alternately before massaging his temples.

“Quit training secretly. I’ll let you train with the warriors. I’ll even monitor you personally,” he said while putting his palm on the table.

My heart suddenly leaped in joy. “R-Really?”

Lucas nodded at me. “But in return, you need to be an intel for me regarding your past pack.”
