“Come on, Celine!” I heard their laughs echoing in the darkness of the forest. I muttered a curse. I was about to run faster when I saw a cliff in front of me. Shit. I was already running so fast that I wasn’t able to drift in another direction and stop my momentum.
“Ahh!” I shouted and closed my eyes tight as I felt my body falling.
Fuck. Is this going to be my dead end?
“Shit! She fell!” that was the last thing I heard before I fell into complete darkness.
***
Shit.
My surroundings were blurry when I woke up. Fuck. I clenched my forehead when I felt the stinging pain in my head. Shit. Am I still alive? I tried to feel where I was lying. Soil. Wow. Guess I’m alive, huh. I blinked my eyes multiple times until I could finally get a hold of my surroundings. I heard the birds chirping and saw the towering trees surrounding me. Oh great, I’m still in the forest. I bit my lip as I tried to stand.
I looked around when I heard the sound of running water. And I wasn’t wrong. Meters away from me was a flowing river. I swallowed hard and tried to walk towards it. I was still looking around to see where the hell I was. I was limping when I got to the side of the river. Oh gosh, I was so thirsty that I immediately drank in the river.
Relief rushed through me when I was finally able to hydrate my parched throat.
I was about to wash my face in the river when I suddenly heard a rustling sound coming from behind. My head immediately turned in that direction. I was about to run, but it was already too late.
“Who are you?” a short-haired woman holding a basket asked. My eyes widened, having no idea what to say. She was looking at me fiercely. I swallowed hard. I couldn’t fix my eyes as I was fidgeting with what to say until I grasped a familiar symbol tattooed on her right arm. I felt like my body ran out of blood when I saw what it was.
Shit.
I looked at the woman in horror. That symbol on her arm. That’s the symbol of the Bloodmoon Pack! Holy shit! Am I on their turf?!
Chapter Six
“Who are you? You’re not from our pack,” she said.
I felt my heart beating so hard when she started walking toward me. Her brows were furrowed as she checked me from head to toe. I swallowed hard again and continued to step backward. Shit. I need to get out of here!
“D-Don’t go near me!” I warned her. I kept stepping away from her.
I saw how her brows furrowed at me. She stopped in her tracks. I heaved a sigh and swallowed hard.
“Fine, I’m not going near,” she said, raising both her hands as a sign of surrender. She surveyed me
I made sure that I was alert the whole time. I studied the environment while the woman was looking at me like I was some freak. Oh god. Am I really in the Bloodmoon Pack? How the hell did I end up here?! Stories about their pack flashed into my head, making me even more terrified. I looked around and then back to the woman. She was true to her word. She didn’t move a bit.
My breathing went heavy as I slowly stepped backward again.
“D-Don’t follow m-me,” I said, my voice shaking in fear. Her expression remained indifferent. She was just looking at me blankly.
“Careful of the traps. There are many here.”
I immediately stopped in my tracks. My eyes widened in shock. I felt like my whole body just shook in fear. What the hell! I looked at the woman in horror. I saw her shrug and place her basket down.
“I won’t hurt you, Miss. Don’t worry,” she casually said before walking towards the river.
“B-But y-you’re from the Bloodmoon P-Pack!” I said nervously.
She stopped and looked at me. “And?” she probed and raised a brow. I widened my eyes, but she just looked at me weirdly again.
“And…” I couldn’t finish what I wanted to say. Shit.
“What?” she asked, and I felt like my tongue just got cut. Shit.
She didn’t utter a word and just stared at me with her cold eyes. When she didn’t get an answer from me, she shook her head and hissed.
