I closed my eyes and sighed. Slowly, I stood up and mindlessly wandered around the forest without plans, thoughts, or places to go.
I have officially become a lone wolf.
I didn’t know what was waiting for me. To be honest, I didn’t care anymore. After all, I had nothing already. I have no one and nothing to lose.
I continued walking until I no longer knew where I was. It was probably the deepest part of the forest, but who cares? I continue meandering, walking like nothing else matters anymore because it’s the truth. It was very quiet here in the forest. The only things that I could hear were the insects and the wind. I shivered as the chilly wind brushed my skin, it was so cold, but I didn’t have any spare clothes with me now. The anger that I was feeling for Michael and his family suddenly intensified.
I was in the middle of kicking a small rock in front of me when I suddenly heard the rustling sounds of the leaves from a nearby bush. The hairs in my arms tingled.
Someone is following me right now.
“Have you seen her already?”
“No! Damn it, where is that bitch now?”
“Yeah. Tsk.”
“Do we really need to find her?!”
“Daria would kill us if we can’t find her!”
My legs automatically stopped upon hearing that name. I quickly looked back and scanned the place. I could hear their footsteps coming in my direction. My heart rumbled against my chest as I anxiously tried to find a good hiding spot. But before I could even have the chance to conceal myself, an ominous voice suddenly spoke behind me.
“Oh, there you are!”
My eyes widened when I realized it was Amelie, a red-haired girl who belonged to Daria’s pack of evil minions. She was accompanied by other she-wolves, all of them flashing perilous smirks at me.
My brows furrowed, and I took a step back. Why are they here, and why are they looking for me? What for? I couldn’t understand.
“Daria will be so freaking happy about this,” the one with the light brown hair said. The four of them were eyeing me intensely.
My heart started to beat rapidly, and I began to breathe heavily. I looked at each of them while trying to find a way to escape. They are approaching me like a pack of predators about to devour their prey. I tried to compose myself; I shouldn’t let them see me cower under their presence.
“What do you want? Why are you looking for me?” I asked coldly, stepping back as they continued to approach me.
I realized that they didn’t have any plans of stopping. They are dead set to corner me, and nothing I say now will ever change their goal. The bravery that I felt earlier suddenly dissipated into thin air.
They prowled around me while smirking as if they had just won a victorious feat.
“Oh, we were just following our Luna’s order, my dear,” Amelie said.
“You will be our gift to her,” the one with the green eyes and black hair added. I didn’t know the names of the three, but I know that they’re also part of Daria’s circle.
I scoffed and shook my head. “Isn’t it enough that you have banished me already? What else do you want?!”
My anger for Michael and Daria resurfaced again. They had already taken everything away from me. What else could they still possibly want?
“Oh, you are right, Celine. Daria won over you, but as long as you live, you will forever be a threat to her position as the Alpha’s Luna. So to avoid that, we’ll have to erase you from the face of the earth forever, Celine.” Amelie said while grinning.
Then two of the she-wolves suddenly pounced on me with daggers in their hands. I gasped hard when I saw how they were about to attack me. My whole body trembled in fear.
No, I don’t want to die yet!
I tried to move my feet and sprinted away from them despite the fear that I was feeling. I am outnumbered. There was no way I could defeat them, so the only thing that I could do was to run.
Shit. I have never run this fast in my whole life.
What the hell is wrong with them?! I have nothing to do with Daria! I have no intention of being in between them and Michael!
