“Mmmhmpf.” I think I’ll need that long to calm my cock down before I can leave this room.
“You okay?” she asks, her voice laced with concern.
Nodding, I reply, “Mmmhmpf,” again.
Calliope giggles. She leans down and presses a kiss to my cheek. “That was the best dance I have ever given. Thank you, Kane.”
“Mmmhmpf,” I mumble, I don’t think I’ve ever been this turned on. One word answers are all I’m capable of right now. Finally, the sexy fog clears and I realize I’m alone. “Huh, when did she leave?” I mutter to myself as I stand up and exit the VIP room.
Walking through the club, I make my way to where Calliope said to meet her. I’m so glad I decided to surprise her because that was the perfect way to start our weekend together.
ChapterThirty
Leaving Kane in the VIP room, I head back to the dressing room and change into my normal clothes. After changing, I make my way to Miss Rhi’s office. I need to speak with her before I leave and if I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it.
Raising my hand, I knock and wait for her to welcome me in. I made the mistake once of just waltzing in and I caught Miss Rhi on her sofa being eaten out by someone. That is a sight I never want to relive.
“Come in,” she singsongs.
Opening the door, I step in and close it behind me. Taking a deep breath, I open my mouth but she raises her hand in a stop motion. “I accept your resignation.”
“How did you know?”
“Tonight when you were up on that stage, thatje ne sais quoi, that sparkle that usually radiates off of you was missing. Then when I saw that fine man return, I knew.”
“I’m sorry, Miss Rhi—”
“Don’t be, sweetie, I always knew you weren’t a lifer and that’s okay. Your time here is done, but promise me you won’t be a stranger. Anytime you want a spin, you’re always welcome here. Now go.” She shoos me with her hand and stands up. “Go have wild monkey sex with that man and name your firstborn after me.”
Shaking my head, I laugh and walk over to Miss Rhi. We hug each other tightly and then when I make my way back to the dressing room and quickly pack up my things, I find myself grinning. I’m happy I have no job, but even happier that my last dance at The Nirvana Lounge was for Kane.
With my belongings in hand, I make my way to the staff exit. When I step out, I see Zed guarding the door but over his shoulder I see Kane and I smile. Zed thinks I’m smiling at him and he returns the smile, that is until he hears Kane approaching behind him. He looks over his shoulder and quickly spins around, placing himself between Kane and me in a protective manner. “Entrance is that way, buddy,” Zed growls.
“Oooookay,” Kane says, “but I was—”
“Turning around and going the other way. This is the staff entrance.”
“I know, and I’m—”
“Zed, stop,” I snarl.
He glares at me over his shoulder. “Shut up and let me do my job.”
“Hey,” Kane shouts, “don’t speak to her like that.”
“Fuck off, pretty boy.”
“Zed,” I screech. “Stand down now, that’s my boyfriend.”
“Your what?” he bellows, spinning to face me, his eyes scrunched in anger. “You’re dating that old guy?” He flicks his thumb over his shoulder at Kane.
“He’s not old, and yes, I’m dating him.” Stepping around Zed, I walk over to Kane. When I’m in front of him, he reaches out, slides his arm around my waist, pulls me into him, and slams his mouth to mine. Dipping me backward, he claims me as his in the alphaiest of alpha ways and it's the hottest fucking thing ever. “Alpha much?” I pant when he breaks the kiss and pulls me back upright.
He shrugs at me and then over my shoulder glares at Zed. He laces our fingers together and without another word, pulls me back toward the street. “Night, Zed,” I throw over my shoulder as Kane and I walk away. He hails a taxi and when the car stops at the curb, he opens the door for me. “Such a gentleman,” I sweetly state before bending down to climb in. Kane slaps my ass before shuffling in after me. “Such a caveman.”
“Just you wait.” He winks at me and pulls the door closed. He tells the driver to take us to The Plaza, and suddenly I’m nervous for the night ahead.
