“You go, girl.” She snapped her fingers, cheering me on.
I chuckled and walked to her. We hugged and pulled away.
“Have you told him?”
“Not yet, but I will tonight.”
There was a light knock on the door.
“Miss Simpson, it’s time,” one of the maids informed me.
“Okay, thanks!” I yelled a reply.
Mrs. Sanchester had told me this morning that we were making a grand entrance.
“How do I look?” I asked, feeling a bit nervous.
“Like a queen.”
I smiled, my cheeks warming with a blush. I headed to the door. Tristan was waiting with Kayden in the hallway.
My black heels clicked on the marble floor, announcing my presence. Tristan’s eyes ran up my body and remained on my face. His lips twitched and formed a soft smile. He looked graceful and gorgeous in his slim charcoal-black two-piece suit. His hair was brushed back.
Wait, he dyed his hair black?
He looked different—younger, dominating, and more good-looking. I couldn’t stop staring.
I smiled back as he tucked his hands in the front pockets of his suit pants.
“Mommy!” Kayden ran and came to hug my knees.
“Hey, sweetie.” I touched his chin and leaned down to place a kiss on his lips.
“You look like a handsome prince,” I said to him, adjusting his tiny tuxedo.
He giggled and tried to touch my necklace, but I pulled away. I looked at Tristan and found him staring at us like he was trying to figure out if we were real. He smiled and extended his hand to Kayden, who ran to him.
“Here they come!” Mrs. Sanchester announced, and everyone applauded.
I held Kayden’s left hand while Tristan held his right hand.
“Ready?” Tristan asked me.
“A bit nervous, but yeah.” I nodded and smiled.
“I can hold your hand if that will help,” he offered.
“No, it’s fine,” I said and looked away.
I wasn’t sure where we stood at the moment. We needed to have a long conversation.
We walked down the stairs, and everyone began to clap when they saw us. Kayden started jumping, enjoying how we both held him.
“Kayden,” I groaned in a low tone, but he kept jumping.
I took a glance at Tristan to help me, but he was smiling at him.
I turned my attention back to the people in the room. I didn’t know many of the people here. Everyone applauded as we got off the stairs. I gave them my best smile. Kayden wriggled out of my hold and ran to Nora.
