“My parents, they sent me here to get away from Darius’s rule, but they weren’t able to come with me.” Suron’s face went forlorn as we stood outside the conference center. Sebastian’s hands squeezed me tightly as if to know his story and the dreadful outcome.
“I was smuggled over graciously by the Cerulean Moon Kingdom guard who took pity on me. King Darius had a law that no vampire could leave the realm because he was building an army and needed every hand they could. My parents stayed behind to try not to draw attention.” My hand went out to squeeze Suron, but Sebastian, overly possessive, held me at his side.
Pamela, whose bubbly prancing ceased, grabbed Suron into a hug. “Do you know what happened to them?” Suron shook his head, sniffing.
“No, but I was hoping to see them again one day. I’ve only been here five years or so. I was hopeful when Sebastian said Darius was sentenced to death…” Sauron’s grateful smile had Sebastian stiffen. “Now, with the portal closed, I worry about what is to come. If they did survive fighting for him in the past years, I wonder if they will survive now.”
“Suron.” Sebastian’s voice softened, not the condescending tone he typically gave the overly peppy vampire. “If you wish to return with Christine and me, we can help find your parents once this disturbance is over. You are welcome to stay where we go until you get on your feet.”
Suron blushed, scratching the back of his neck. My eyes grew wide at the mere fact that Sebastian offered the vampire he found utterly annoying a beautiful gift. My heart melted. I wrapped my arms around his torso, listening to the steady beat that matched mine.
“Thank you,” Suron said. “I’d really like that.”
“The least I could do.” Sebastian’s thumb rubbed my hip under my black sequined top. “Without you, I would be in a heap of trouble.”
Trying to break the tension, Pamela pranced up to the two bouncers at the door. They took one long whiff at her, tilting their heads in amusement. “Pack?” The werewolf growled. The vampire on the other side of the door shrugged his shoulders. This wasn’t his business, apparently.
“She’s with me.” Suron stepped up, wrapping his arm around her. “She can be vouched for by Elder Rowan. Pamela is a sigma with no pack.” The werewolf’s eyes widened.
“I thought they were legends.” He grunted. “Then again, I do smell a hint of alpha on you with something else. A deep wooded scent.” He leaned closer, trying to smell her neck but the vicious growl leaving Pamela’s throat startled him.
“Watch it, buddy.” Her fangs bared. “Just because I look dainty doesn’t mean I can’t kick your ass.” The werewolf smirked, his arms falling to his sides.
“My, you are frisky. If you need a male for the night, you know where to find me. I’d very much like to get to know you.” He winked.
Ew.
“No thanks, saving it for my mate. This ass is grade A prime choice meat, and I’m not leaving sloppy seconds to some mutt.” I snorted out a laugh, trying to cover my mouth not to be too loud until the bouncer growled playfully.
“You’re a lone wolf at a function full of packs that fight for each other. I suggest you watch your tone,” he whispered seductively.
Does he really think he had a chance?
Pamela snarled. A howl-like bark left her lips, and wolves that stood just inside the conference center came out to figure out the commotion.
“A female alpha.” One sniffed. “Er, with something else?”
“Sigma.” Pamela puffed out her chest. Now all the wolves were staring at her chest. “My father was born one and his father before him. We are wolves strong enough to choose to live life outside of society’s normal social dominance hierarchy structures. It’s better that way since we are strong and superior.” Pamela winked.
“This is interesting to watch.” I nudged Sebastian. “It’s like they are really animals or something.”
“They are,” Sebastian muttered, getting a nasty glare from the front bouncer.
“Wow, never met one. So, you are a lone wolf.” Pamela nodded, crossing her arms over her chest.” Sounds lonely, but that is what makes a sigma strong, I suppose. I’m Tate, Gamma to the Blue Eclipse pack. Our new alpha should be arriving shortly. He’s pre-gaming it with the band. He would want to meet a sigma.” Pamela’s eyes widened.
“We saw the band a few days ago, didn’t we, Chrissy? They were amazing!”
Technically I didn’t watch. I was too busy getting finger-fucked and sucking off my mate. “Yes, they were amazing!” I gushed. Sebastian chuckled in my ear, kissing my neck. His fangs scraped against my skin, having me lean into his touch.
Just a little nibble?
“They were hiding in the closet.” Pamela hitched her thumb behind her. “So, if she followed the beat of the music, I’m guessing Sebastian received excellent rhythmic bobbing.”
“Oh my god!” I screamed. Suron’s blasé mood shifted to that of laughter as we were led into the conference building turned nightclub.
“Well then.” He snorted a laugh. “Welcome, come on in, guys,” Tate winked at the bouncer who was still staring at Pamela’s breasts. “The party’s just starting.”
