Page 55 of His True Beloved

“No,” Sebastian stated, pulling me on top of his lap. “We won’t be leaving. We have things to attend to.” My heart went into my throat, Sebastian gripping my breast on the outside of the dress shirt. “Things to talk about such as our bonding, isn’t that right, my beloved?”

Oh, shiz.

“Um, yes. A few questions before anything”—his finger went between my breasts— “happens.” Truth be told, I wasn’t sure what was to happen next. Sure, in any relationship, when you take it to the next level, something intimate, you talk about it. But when you are dealing with a vampire, who knows?

Sebastian let a purr out from his throat. It had me leaning into his touch, my lips almost touching his again until the loud vibration of an Amber alert went off on someone’s phone.

“Hell, what is that?” Sebastian pulled me closer, my face now plastered to his chest.

Drat. Good thing he smells nice.

I should just lick him.

Lick.

“Did you just lick me?” he chuckled.

I licked him again. “Yup. I licked it, so now it’s mine.”

Suron reached in his pocket, the light flashing violently on the screen as it continued to scream into the car. Pamela was holding her ears tightly, humming to herself to drown out the noise. “The hell, are you guys deaf or something? Why so loud?!”

Suron flipped the noise off and pulled the car up to the plantation house. Flipping his finger across the screen, Sebastian again put his hand down my shirt while we sat in the dark, waiting for Suron to tell us what the hell was going on with his phone.

“How much talking are you wanting to do?” Sebastian hissed in my ear. His hand trailed the top of my skin. My thighs tried to part to tell him to go the other way.

Easy access.

This. Vampire. Is. Going. To. Kill. Me.

“Enough to know—”

“Aight, everyone in the house. Meeting now,” Suron interrupted. Sebastian sighed, still holding onto my breast, pecking my lips. “Official coven business, I’m afraid.” He looked to Pamela, who nodded in agreement.

“Right, don’t want to be involved in that.” She waved her hands to the woods. “I’ll shift and see you soon, ‘kay Chrissy-doodle?” I laughed, waving at her as she left the car.

“In quickly.” Suron’s tone went serious as he slammed the door. “We’ve got a problem.” Suron’s gaze darkened, his playful prances he usually has across the yard now in a stealthy gate until he sees a child running across the courtyard.

“Time to get inside, Allen,” Suron gave him a pointed look. “You shouldn’t be out tonight. It isn’t safe.” Suron’s face softened, kneeling into the stoned drive. “I really need you to listen.” Allen nodded, taking off to the first house next to the coven plantation.

“What is going on?” Sebastian shot out. Suron waved up the stairs for us to follow. My heart raced in my chest, feeling anxious since Suron had taken his once playful banter to a serious one.

“It’s all right.” Sebastian kissed my forehead. “Nothing is going to happen to you.” I clutched his hand as we entered the foyer. My stepfather stood with Elder Rowan. A peaceful look came over him as he walked toward me.

The overwhelming feeling of running into his arms like a small child to their tall father rushed over me. Sebastian let my hand go as I rushed to Justin, embracing him. “Chrissy girl, I’ve been worried about you.” He sniffed my hair.

Lots of sniffing around these parts.

“Is Mom okay? I didn’t mean to get hurt.” Justin shook his head, looking down at my leg and the attire. He didn’t question or ask, just raised a brow at Sebastian, who had leaned up against the doorframe with his hands in his pockets. Shrugging his shoulders, he sent me a wink, and my face turned red.

He knows we did something nasty.

But a good nasty.

“You got the bleeding to stop,” he stated. “That’s good. I was worried. You didn’t call.” I twisted my lips in thought. Didn’t think I should have called. Mom was a raging, blood lust lunatic, and I didn’t want to bother.

“It’s all right. I went with my friend Pamela.”

“The sigma werewolf?” Elder Rowan interrupted. “She’s a hard worker. The humans love that shop. Glad to see she finally made a friend.” I knew what that statement meant. I was quite the loner for a few weeks, and making a friend that was not human was a big step for me.
