“Glad to see you are all right, Miss Chrissy. I was afraid you wouldn’t forgive the old fart.” Suron winked to Sebastian, who growled.

“Forgive?” I questioned until the haze finally fell. The room had let all trails of our lust fade. I tucked his black shirt into my leather skirt to make it more kept.

Right, he kept that he is my mate.

“Well, I guess with my negative attitude about it all in the beginning.” My gaze went back to Sebastian. Hand reaching out, lacing our fingers together, I blushed. “I would have kept it from me too. It was best he waited. Although now, this weird pull I have toward him is powerful.” I giggled.

“And it will be,” Pamela lectured. She wiggled her finger. “I wasn’t at all impressed that he wasn’t telling you when I first met him, but I knew that look that he gave me. He had something up his sleeve, but I didn’t know what.” She crossed her arms.

“You knew too?” I asked. Pamela nodded, and Suron waved his hand like a timid child. “They all knew?”

“Hell, the whole coven knew! I had to sweet talk all the kids not to come to talk to you and accidentally blab about it,” Suron complained. Sebastian squeezed my hand. He was now clad with just his vest and jacket. I couldn’t help but giggle at his expense. I mean, his belt wasn’t even buckled yet.

“You kept everyone away to make sure I didn’t know? To make sure I was ready to hear it?” I whispered.

“I did, and I realize that might have been wrong. I waited too long, but—” My finger silenced his lips.

“It’s fine. You can owe me later.” I winked, squeezing his hand. Pamela rolled her eyes, huffing in annoyance.

“I’d be pissed if my mate did that, but each their own.” Pamela turned to wave us out. “Come on, you guys have been in here forever, and we need to get outta here before the janitor comes in. He gets grouchy when he has to clean up all the jizz on the floor.”

Suron let out a hearty laugh. “From the smell of it, I think Chrissy drank it all.” The dynamic duo now roared in laughter as we stepped back into the crowd. Knowing stares had me bury my face into Sebastian’s chest. He only smiled, nodding at those around us, showing congratulations.

“Congrats on your mate.” Several vampires slapped him on the back. “‘Bout damn time you told her.” They chuckled.

Literally everyone knows.

Part of me was pissed at that, but I could only blame myself and my closed-off self. I would have flat-out rejected him, and he used some goddess bond to work it against me. I guess, in a way, it was like a curse.

We all hopped in the car, the werewolf bouncer at the door giving us a salute as we began to drive away. Suron and Pamela sat in the front while she animatedly talked about her family to Suron, who acted like it was the coolest thing ever to be a lone wolf.

The vibration in my pocket started again. I didn’t even dare pull it out of my small handbag. It was probably the creepy breather anyway, and I wasn’t going to spoil my night. I was too happy, too enthralled, with the vampire next to me. I was taking the plunge, letting my heart decide instead of my mind. The vibration finally stopped, and Sebastian wrapped his arm around my back.

“A sigma, right?” Suron interjected in her long monologue. She nodded feverishly.

“Yup, and I am one too, and let me tell you, it’s hard to make friends with other werewolves when you don’t have a pack to call your own. That’s why I really want to go to the mixer that’s coming up, but I have no claiming pack, so I’m not officially invited.” She pouted. Crossing her arms, she stared out the window until Suron had a light bulb go off in his head.

Suron swatted at her animatedly. “You can be my date! You can come with me!” Pamela jumped in her seat.

“Really?” she said hysterically. “You would really do that… for me? Are you sure?” Pamela’s eyes were brimming with tears as she held onto Sauron’s hand.

“Of course. I’m besties with Sebastian. You are besties with Chrissy. It’s only natural for all of us to go together,” he trailed off until Sebastian put his large hand on the back of Sauron’s seat.

“And who said we were going?” He raised a brow. I snorted, watching him being so serious, making Suron almost pee himself as I covered my mouth with laughter.

Seriously, how long has it been since I’ve laughed so much?

“Uh… well…” Suron mumbled, slinking down in his seat. “To get you out of punishment for breaking into one of the human houses—I told them you would help me chaperone,” he squeaked. “I did it to save your hide,” Suron retorted. “Ashton acted like someone peed in his cornflakes when he found out it was you that bashed the door in.”

I rolled my eyes. Ashton can go lick a cow’s asshole.

“That doesn’t sound so bad.” I grabbed Sebastian’s hand again, pulling him beside me. “Just watch a bunch of vampires and werewolves dancing?” Suron laughed, swerving the car until the oncoming traffic as we all screamed.

Once he had composed himself and Sebastian let me go slightly, I brushed a tear from laughter from my face. “Oh, if only it were that simple,” he continued while he pulled up to the winding road that led to the coven. “When supernaturals find their mates at these things, all hell breaks loose. We just need to make sure they don’t have sex in the open; I’ve seen it happen. It ain’t pretty.” He stuck out his tongue in disgust.

Pamela’s lips twitched in amusement. I knew that look. She would be one of those wolves that would take it from behind in front of everyone. For a lone werewolf, she sure was a pervert.

“The mixer is in three days. Just in time for the weekend. More bands are coming to play if you guys want to go back to the club—”
