“I’m fine, as you can see, Ashton. Now how about closing the door? I’ll be in soon.” Christine’s level of annoyance heightened, and so did my dick. She was going to let us finish what we started.

“I just wanted to see if you wanted to watch a movie, Chrissy. The whole gang’s here. We thought we would wait for you.” The damn evil smile on his face was worse than any vampire I had encountered. It was because he was after my mate, an ultimate threat, and I couldn’t lay a damn hand on him.

Once vampires entered the coven, we had to swear not to lay a hand on any human. This also means if they attack us for no apparent reason, we just let them. It was not fair to humans with our strength. We would survive anything they threw at us. If we retaliated, they would not survive.

It was a stupid damn rule, especially when dealing with one’s mate. Elder Rowan purposefully put it there so as not to cause future problems, but when you are as old as me, it was going to be difficult to follow it when this human acted like a damn cockroach.

“Oh, that sounds great!” Christine gushed, and my head flipped to hers so fast I thought I saw the next realm. “Sebastian, would you want to join?” She winked at me. Before Ashton could say anything, she pushed him to the side and pulled me in with her, our hands firmly clasped together.

I watched as Ashton tightened his fist at the doorway.Take that.

The dark room was easy enough for me to see, but for Christine, her eyes squinted as she led me through the bland room. Tans, whites, and mostly sterile decoration made it feel less homely, so those humans that accepted a vampire mate would move out easier.

Warmth and safety should be provided by their mates, and living in this area would be deemed cold and uninviting for humans. My hand tightened around Christine, hoping she would move into my room in the coven house. It was more than enough room for us until we decided on our future.

The small idle chatter ceased when we approached the back of the couch. Christine waved, the electric blonde in the corner eyeing her maliciously.

“‘Bout time you got here,” she said. Her face brightened as Ashton came into the room. She shuffled her breasts up higher on her chest. “Ashton! Here, I saved you a seat.” She patted the seat next to her on the large sectional, and he sat down promptly.

Two chairs were already taken. One male roommate had yet to say a word and was reading Vermillion History, and the other female was playing on a large tablet screen that Christine liked to draw on. She was disinterested in the whole idea of watching the movie until she sat up straight and smiled.

Glancing at the two of us, she smiled and waved back. “Sorry, I’m meeting up with a friend.” She began to walk out of the room, not looking back until Ashton huffed in annoyance. “Are you seeing a vampire too, Gloria?” he spat.

Gloria didn’t even turn to respond, prancing up the stairs faster than Ashton could spout out more nonsense. Little did he know, she did have a date with a vampire. She reeked of some other vampire’s scent.

Ashton will love to learn about that later.

Two open seats on soft leather stayed open on the couch, and Christine rushed to sit down so we could sit together. Amber huffed in annoyance, crossing her arms that her seat for Ashton was now gone.

“Hey Amber, can you sit here?” Ashton pointed to the oversized chair to the right. She smiled brightly, bouncing as she sat down and waited like a helpless puppy. Air must have gone through her head thinking Ashton was going to share that seat with her because once Ashton sat down in her previous seat, I swear she growled.

“Thanks, babe.” He winked, but it did not calm her demeanor. She whipped her legs over the oversized chair and flipped on the TV.

“I’m picking the movie,” she muttered.

Unfortunately, the situation on the couch wasn’t doing much better. Now Ashton’s nasty white leg with his khaki shorts was next to my mate. He was too close for comfort next to Christine. I pulled her closer to me, not that she minded, and her leg crossed over mine.

“Gross,” he muttered and stared off into the television. My arm reached around, stroking Christine’s arm. My scent engulfed her, pushing into her skin with each flick of my finger running up and down her arm. Ashton couldn’t smell it, but any pheromone humans unleashed to help mate with their own kind would be disturbed. He wouldn’t find her as attractive. At least, that was my hope.

He seemed as stubborn as an ass.

The longer the movie progressed, Christine pressed her chest more firmly to me. Her head nuzzled my shoulder, and my cock was straining against the seam of my pants. Christine’s hand laid on top of my thigh, and my fist from my opposite hand came to my mouth to bite back the guttural growl.

Her smile in my peripheral had me grow eager. She was letting down the walls built so high to protect herself and was letting me in. I was ready to help her tear them down, take her in my arms and never let her go.

Once she lets me in, she will never be rid of me.

Halfway through the movie, I didn’t know the plot, who the characters were, and why we were here in the first place. My attention was on Christine, the small patterns she decorated my thigh with, her breathing, and even the trace of arousal filtered around us.

One portion of the movie held a sex scene. Nothing surprised me with humans parading sexual intimacy on the screen, but it worked in my favor. Christine grabbed my thigh, her breath quickening along with her heart. I could hear the blood rushing through her arteries and my teeth salivated. My cock was painfully hard. It was so close to where her hand lay. My bold beloved gently brushed it with her fingertips.

Zeus, help me,purred in my throat, my claws now embedded into the arm of the couch. A small giggle left her once the scene was over, her nipples noticeable through her black dress.

She’s in so much trouble.

Ashton, who must have had a long talk to himself about how hopeless it must be to gain my beloved’s attention, stood up, straightening his shorts.

“Hey Amber.” He nodded to the stairs, and she jumped up excitedly.
