“Why are you never in the place I leave you?” I asked, my voice low in irritation.
She chuckled, not at all put out. She turned to face me. “I saw Egan stroll by. I knew if he was leaving thatyouwere watching me. I also knew you would follow me in here. I had zero doubt I was in danger.” She patted my chest. “I knew you were watching me, Damien.”
“How?” I asked.
She smiled. “I felt your eyes on me. You were close the whole time.”
I felt my ire begin to slip.
“And what if you were wrong and I didn’t follow you in here?”
“I would call you.” She shook her head. “You agreed to this too easily, Damien. I already figured out when you say yes, you have a plan. And a backup.”
I took her basket, looping my arm around her waist. “Think you know me so well already, Ms. Raven?”
“Yes.”
“And what do you think is going to happen next?”
“You’re going to let me pay for my purchases, then take me back to the loft and show me who is really in control here.”
I dropped my head to her neck, nibbling on the soft skin. “And then?” I murmured.
“You’re going to fuck me hard just to prove it.”
“Shopping time is over,” I growled.
She laughed. “Good thing I’m done, then.”
She was right.
CHAPTERTHIRTEEN
Raven
Resting my chin on my hand, I stared out the window. Rain pelted the glass, the trees bending under the fury of the wind. I sighed, wondering how long the storm would rage. Surprisingly, the school hadn’t lost power, and my little students had all been picked up. Damien was running late, and I was in the staff room waiting for him. Across from me, Tracey was working, Mike sitting at the table, doing something on his phone.
“You two can leave. I’m perfectly safe in the building,” I said for the third time. “It’s locked, and there are a few teachers left.”
They ignored me the same way they had the last two times I had offered.
I went back to my calendar, looking over the summer. I had planned on playing tourist in August. Going to Niagara Falls, spending a few days touring around wine country. Maybe doing the CN Tower, the aquarium. But it would be hard, given everything happening. Unless, of course, Andy disappeared. He hadn’t been seen since the rock incident on Friday, and it was now Tuesday. I was hoping his absence was permanent.
The only good thing about the situation was staying with Damien. Living with him was like a dream, even considering the circumstances. He was larger-than-life to me. Sexy, sweet, caring. Intense, stern, and demanding. Always gentle, yet ready to defend at a moment’s notice. He had told me his name with his team was the Watcher, and I understood why. He was incredibly focused, his eyes seemed to take everything in, and he saw things no one else noticed. We had cooked supper together last night, and I had baked cookies, slapping his hands as he tried to taste the batter, steal chocolate chips, and informed me he had to taste test every batch as they came from the oven. He had pouted hard when I informed him the cookies were for Leo. He pinned me against the cupboard, kissing me until I admitted some were for him.
“The lion’s share, right?” he demanded, moving his mouth up and down my neck, licking and kissing. “For me, right, Ms. Raven?” He slid his hands up my legs, teasing me with one long finger, slipping the digit under the lace of my underwear. “Right, Ms. Raven?” He bit down, sucking my skin between his teeth. “Mine.”
I gasped as he touched me, stroking lightly, the feel of his fingertip soft enough to tease but hard enough to make me want more.
I clutched his shirt, fisting it in my hands. “Yes.”
“Oh, good answer,” he murmured, pressing harder, stroking me. “I feel you, my Ravenna Jade. I love feeling how much you want me. I love hearing your noises.”
Then he brought me to a fast, shuddering orgasm.
He got the bulk of the cookies. I was saving Leo’s for him tomorrow since he had been off today on a personal errand.
My phone ringing brought me out of my lust-induced fog. I saw Deb’s name and answered brightly.
