“No, Matteo,” Dad says without looking backward. “It wasn’t me, nor did I give the order, but I should have months ago.”

“Tony is right, you know,” Giovanni chimes in.

“Butt the fuck out, old man,” Matteo fires back as I slide out of the bench seat across from Giovanni and rush to him.

“Do you want me to tell her with you?” I ask.

“Yeah, Si, I do.” He pauses, a sigh falling from his lips. “Right after you level with me and tell me which of your family members did it.”

Fuck. If he can read me like a book, there is no way in hell I’m going to be the consigliere for my brothers—or hide the fact that it was me that ended Cal’s life and not Domenico. I don’t want to lie to him or keep secrets, but I don’t want him to know either. I’m screwed is what I am.
