The walk back to the cabin following sex with Rin renewed my soul. By the time we got back, Savannah had sent me the perfect unbinding spell to counter the ritual I had blundered and turned into a curse. And immediately following the dinner, I got to work on memorizing what to do. And Ezra helped gather the supplies I needed.

Once everything was ready, I ran through dry runs of the spell just to make sure things went off without a hitch.

Two days later, as I sat in front of the cabin at the base of a tree meditating, I thought about my time with the men and how it was drawing to an end. Soon, Jared would no longer be an issue, then I would be free to leave and finish my job for the coven. My heart almost broke with the idea of leaving the men behind, but I knew heading to Washington was what I needed to do, and I was already running late.

Still, I hated the thought of leaving them for one second. My heart tugged lower, pain centered around it and the beats turned sluggish. Almost as if living without them was too much to bear.

Over the course of the past couple of days, things were amazing between us. Better than I could have dreamed things might be. And it gave me a glimpse of what I was able to have. Rituals aside and whatnot. It was going to take the men to help me through this next part. And I couldn’t imagine having things any other way.

Plus, we were as prepared as we could be.

A tear fell down my face as the men’s faces flashed through my mind. A vision of me leaving them started to unfold. I committed details of their appearance to memory. Things I especially wanted to cling to and replayed those over the terrible vision of me leaving them.

An invisible tug on my shoulders pulled my attention. A weight centered on my chest, and I sucked in a breath as my heartbeats picked up in pace. The sensation was too familiar and just as alarming as I remembered.

And it was the very thing that I had been waiting for. Jared was on his way.

The signal was a little weaker than I anticipated, though. That might have been because of how far away he was. Or the weakness in the signal could have been his strength was waning. Hell, the reason probably was a combination of both. Either way, I opened my eyes and stood from the tree. The men needed to be told about this.

I stepped inside, finding Rin reading a book on the couch. He lifted his gaze to me. “Everything okay?”

“He’s coming. Where’s Luke and Ezra?”

“Ezra is on a run, checking the traps and whatnot,” he said. “Not sure where Luke is at the moment.”

I nodded. “They need to be informed.”

“I’ll go find Ezra,” he said. “You look for Luke in the house. We’ll meet back here in an hour.”

“It’s not going to take an hour to look through the house,” I said.

He smirked. “No, but it may take me that long outside. Stay put. If Luke is here, he’ll keep you company.”

“Sounds good,” I said. “Good luck.”

As Rin passed by me, I placed my hand on his arm. His eyes locked on mine.

“Be careful,” I said, barely above a whisper.

He nodded and planted a short, sweet kiss on my lips. “I will be safe. I’ll also be back soon.”

I smiled as he headed out the door and then went to find Luke.

An hour later, we sat in the living room. I had just finished sharing what I had gathered from my intuition. While searching for Luke, I tried to keep my mind on it. Just to see if I would narrow down a time. It would be more helpful to have an exact time to tell them on top of the rest of my news.

And I did… sort of.

“So, when?” Luke asked after I had finished sharing my news.

“Tomorrow. I’m not sure when exactly. I’d wager later in the day,” I said.

The men nodded.

Rin sat forward and said, “We understand what to do. We’re prepared for our part. But are you ready for yours?”

“As ready as I will ever be,” I said.

“No doubts?” Ezra asked.
