I laughed and shook my head. “I see that, but why?”
“Take a seat, and let us explain,” Luke said, gesturing to one of the chairs.
I did so, and once I was settled, the men took their seats around the fire.
Rin leaned forward, “We didn’t necessarily start on the greatest of terms, but the longer I was around you, the more I started to warm up to you.”
I nodded, smiling.
He smiled and then continued, “And the more I started to warm up to you, the more I realized you were an incredibly special woman.”
“Awww,” I said.
He held up his finger. “Now, you will be leaving soon, and it didn’t seem right to let you go without celebrating you at least once.”
“That’s really sweet of you. All of you,” I said, setting my eyes on each of them. “I truly appreciate everything you have done for me and continue to do for me.”
“It is our pleasure,” Luke said.
“Yeah,” Ezra added. “So, sit back and listen.”
I sat back, crossed my legs, and gestured for them to continue.
Luke said, “The circumstances of how you came into our lives was chaotic and unexpected. But you have made things better here. In every way. And the idea of you leaving doesn’t sit right with us.”
“So,” Ezra started. “We came together and came up with a way to make you feel celebrated and ask you a very important question.”
“We don’t want to go back to our lives before you came into it,” Rin said.
“Nor do we want to stand in the way of what you have to do,” Ezra added.
“At least consider another option,” Luke said. “One that doesn’t force you sacrifice everything you have. A compromise of sorts.”
I raised my eyebrows.
He added. “Stay with us.”
My heart skipped with joy. Happy tears nipped at my eyes. Everything I wanted and more laid within these three men, and though I had hoped they felt the same way about me… I didn’t expect them to.
After several moments of them waiting silently for me to respond, I sucked in a shuddering breath and said, “I don’t want to go either. But I don’t think I can leave my life behind. My coven is relying on me.”
“We get that,” Luke said. “But when you come back from Washington, and you’ve helped your coven, would you consider staying with us?”
Rin added, “We also understand you still have things to do, but we wanted you to hear how we felt about you before you left us.”
“We’ve all fallen in love with you,” Ezra said.
I stared up at him. He smiled and nodded. I switched my gaze to Luke, who did the same, and then Rin, who winked.
“I love you all too,” I said. “Very much.”
Each of the men showed relief in different ways, but all of them leaned back in the chair and sighed.
We continued talking and laughing and spending a great time together. After eating and a few drinks, I was tired and wired all at the same time. It was an interesting sensation. One I didn’t have the words to describe.
I felt like I was floating in the air, surrounded by three hot as hell bear shifters.
And I wondered when it came time, could I really leave them behind for good?
