Her heart stuttered. She held her breath, afraid to believe her luck.

“Who was it?” asked Finn.

“I don’t know all the details yet. Agent Mallory gave me a courtesy call letting me know since the case was still open.”

“It’s really over?” Charli asked.

Bently nodded. “Fingerprints match the gift left at the bar.”

Finn crushed her against his chest, the tension leaving his body was palpable. “It’s done, sweetheart. You’re safe.”

“This is an even better wedding present than the earrings,” she joked.

Finn chuckled. “Sure as fuck is.”

She sagged against him and held on. Nothing could bring down her joy. She was safe. Her baby was safe. And her husband had returned to her an even better man than he was before.

“Let’s go home,” Finn whispered.

She nodded. “You read my mind.”

They said goodbye, as everyone held sparklers above their heads. Finn gripped her hand and led them out the front door to the waiting limo.

“So fancy.” She laughed, tucking her dress under her in the leather seat.

“Only the best for my wife.”

Her face hurt from smiling so much.

“Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight?”

“Mmmm, yes, but it’s okay, you can tell me as often as you like.” She laughed.

When the limo came to a stop in front of their home, Finn helped her out of the car, leading them to the front door before he picked her up. She squealed.

“I’ve got you. Gotta carry my bride over the threshold.” He chuckled, opening the door and bringing her inside, feetfirst.

He set her down on the ground as her stomach rumbled.

“Hungry?” he teased.

She blushed. “Starving.”

“What are you in the mood for?”

“Curry. I’ve been craving it since Brynn mentioned it this afternoon.”

“We’ll get takeout.” He pulled out his phone.

“And then you can make good on every one of those promises you spoke this morning.” She gave him what she hoped was a sexy smirk.

“Better order extra. I’m gonna need my energy for tonight.” Bringing the phone to his ear, he rattled off an order before ending the call. “Ten minutes. We should leave now. It should be ready by the time we get there,” Finn said, reaching for the door handle.

“You go. I’ll wait here.”

He stopped and turned to face her, worry creasing his brow.

“I’m safe now, remember?”
