We fell silent for a moment as we all pondered on what it could mean for demonics everywhere. They’d no longer have a purpose in the eyes of Heaven. Would they decide to terminate them all?
“We’ll figure it all out,” Chum said certainly. “Lily will find a way to save everyone, demonics included.”
I smiled at his unwavering belief in her. I held the same faith, but I couldn’t help but be uneasy by it all.
I just hoped he was right.
“You felt it too, right?” Creeper asked as he glanced at us from his spot by the window. “When she killed the archangel?”
I looked at Chum and Bug, and they nodded, knowing exactly what he was referring to.
We’d all felt her power in that moment, so intense and alive, something far greater than ever before. And it had wormed inside us, branding us with protection, but not just that. We could feel something even more. Something lurking within us now. I couldn’t explain it, but it was like she’d left a piece of her inside us, simmering deep within.
“What do you think it is?” Bug asked, and I just shook my head.
“I have no idea.”
