“Fuck...” I drag the word out.

“Figured that all out on your own, did ya?” Sam chuffs on the other end of the phone. “Go sleep on the couch if you have to. But go back to her.”

“Yeah. I hear you.”

“And... ?” The asshole’s smile might as well be glowing through the phone.

“And fuck you very much. You outkicked your coverage with your wife. You know that, right?” She’s way too good for him.

“That makes two of us. But when you’ve got that girl, who gives a shit what everyone else thinks? Just make sure you’re worthy.” Sam ends the call, and I walk right back down my stairs.

Hudson glares from his spot on the couch as Imogen pops up from the other end.

“I’m going out. I won’t be back tonight. Lock up behind me.” I don’t give either of them a chance to say anything before I’m back out the door and sliding behind the wheel of my truck.

Lucky for me, when I get back to Scarlet’s, Bob is the doorman on duty, and he likes me. I also have a key to her place, so I don’t have to warn her I’m coming and give her a chance to keep me out. However, as I stand outside her door, I can’t decide what to do.

I’m pissed she kept this from me.

Pissed she told me she loved me but still kept it from me.

But I love her. This doesn’t change that.

We don’t leave. Those were my words.

I guess it’s time to put my money where my mouth is.
