There was a light knock at the door, and we all turned toward it. The wedding planner poked her head in. “It’s almost time. I need the three of you down at the wedding site.”
I walked up to my brother and clapped him on the back. “Let’s get you married.”
He nodded and gave me a nervous smile.
“It’s going to be fine, Gannon. Stop worrying.”
Thirty minutes later, my brother turned and looked at me. “It’s going to be fine, huh?”
A storm had moved over the coastline, and it was pouring. Luckily, there was a contingency plan for bad weather—but not a plan for the sky opening up just as the bride was almost to the groom. Not even joking. One second it was sunny, and then whoosh, the clouds rolled in, the wind whipped up, and the storm-of-all-storms started raging. Addie had rushed back inside, and now we were waiting for the backup plan to kick in.
I lifted my shoulders in an “I’m sorry” shrug. “Sorry, bro. But at least there’s an umbrella on standby, and your bride is inside now, warm and dry.”
Gannon and Addie were getting married at French’s Point, which was just north of Seaside. Since the wedding was on Halloween—a Sunday evening—it was rather small, so we’d quickly moved the ceremony into the retreat house, which was a fucking mansion. The reception would still be held in a tent outside. The storm wasn’t strong enough to mess with that plan. Thank God.
I smiled as I saw Sutton walking toward us. She was dressed in a beautiful light blue dress that showed off her bod in all the right ways. She looked stunning. Her hair was pulled up with curls framing her face and neck. Every time I saw her exposed neck, I wanted to bury my face in it.
“How’s your sister?” I asked when she stopped in front of me and Gannon.
“She’s actually good. The spot they found for you two to exchange your vows is beautiful. They’ve got the guests in there already. Addie is getting her hair fixed up a little, and then we’ll be ready to go. I came to get the three of you.”
Sutton looked past me to where her brother was sitting at the bar, flirting with some guest at the hotel.
“Do you mind pulling my brother away?” Sutton asked me with a grin.
“It would be my pleasure. I’ll see you in a few.”
She reached up and quickly kissed me on the lips. “Have I told you how handsome you look in that tux?”
I took a step back and put my arms out. “You like?”
Biting her lip, she said, “I like very much.”
Gannon sighed, glancing from Sutton to me. “Okay, you get back to my future wife’s side, and you go get her nearly drunk brother. Let’s get this wedding started again.”
I saluted while Sutton giggled and started back down the hall. I couldn’t tear my eyes off how good her ass looked in that dress.
“Stop undressing your wife with your eyes, and go get my future dumbass brother-in-law,” Gannon said.
“You got it, boss.”
As I walked up to Braxton, I heard him say to the woman he was flirting with, “I’m sure I can sneak away at some point.”
She slid a card his way. “Give me a text.”
Braxton took it and slipped it into the pocket of his tux.
“Hate to break this up,” I said, “but we’ve got a wedding to go to.”
The woman—who looked at least ten or fifteen years older than Braxton—winked at him when he stood up.
As we walked toward Gannon, I quietly said, “Going for cougars now, are we?”
“Dude, did you see her smoking-hot body? Fuck yes, thank you very much.”
We followed Gannon down the hallway as I said, “You seemed a little speechless when you saw Harlee walking down the aisle earlier.”
He huffed. “I wasn’t speechless.”
