I gaped at her. “Wait, are you serious right now? You want to go public?”
Addie reached across the table and motioned for Sutton’s hand. “You need to tell our parents, Sutton. And Ken and Janet deserve to know, as well, Brody. Could you imagine if they found out some other way?”
“Yeah, like in the gossip column,” Gannon said with a snort. We all turned and glared at him. “Hey, I’m just saying. Whoever’s writing that column knows everything. Don’t be surprised if your fake marriage gets reported. Then what are you going to do? Brody isn’t even living with you, Sutton.”
Sutton and I exchanged glances.
Addie nodded, sitting back in her chair. “You’re going to have to pretend to have a real marriage if you want Jackass to be convinced. Move Brody in, hold hands in public.” Addie smiled. “Kiss. Come on, let’s see you practice.”
“You want us to kiss? Right now?” I asked.
Gannon winked. “What’s wrong, Brody? You afraid to kiss your own wife?”
“Fuck off, Gannon. This isn’t funny.”
Addie pointed at me. “No, it isn’t. This is very real and very serious. And the two of you made the very grown-up decision to get married. Not fake married, real married.”
Sutton closed her eyes. “Oh my God, why didn’t we think of a fake marriage?”
I shook my head. “Jack probably would’ve looked in the public records for our marriage certificate.”
“He’s right,” Gannon said. “Come on, Sutton. It can’t be all that bad being married to Brody. He’s handsome, kind, and sort of funny. He’s got money. And you already know how he is in bed.”
Addie smacked him on the arm. “Gannon Wilson!”
“What?” he laughed. “It’s all true.”
“So, you think I’m handsome, huh?” I teased my brother.
Sutton sighed. “Can you be serious? Addie and Gannon are right. We need to tell our parents as soon as possible. We’ll say we eloped because we didn’t want to take anything away from Gannon and Addie’s wedding.”
Addie smirked. “How sweet of you to think of us, sis.”
Sutton shot her sister the middle finger.
Gannon was sitting there with a shit-eating grin on his face.
“What are you smiling at?” I asked.
“I’m waiting to see you kiss your new bride.”
Addie giggled. “Do it. Do it. Do it.”
Sutton shook her head. “Now who’s acting like a child?”
“Kiss him, for goodness sake,” Addie demanded.
She rolled her eyes. “You really want me to kiss him?”
Addie clapped her hands. “Yes! And not a peck. A real, passionate, we-just-tied-the knot-and-can’t-wait-until-our-wedding-night kind of kiss.”
“Do you need me and Addie to show you guys how it’s done?” Gannon smirked. “Passionate kissing, that is?”
Sutton and I both huffed and said, “No.”
With a wave of her hand in our direction, Addie said, “Then go for it.”
“Fine,” Sutton responded.
